It isn't just that he wins. The point about taking the stats with a grain of salt is that he is in an offense which limits his opportunities to put up stats. Yes, he wins. He also has physical tools that allow him to project to a level that exceeds what he is statistically in high school. THAT part of the argument cannot be made for Rees.

Also, hell must involve being forced to read ESPN comment sections one after another for years at a time.

We are offically turning the corner.

After getting our nads pummeled in the end with the last class, I swore to quit lurking in recruiting profiles, yet here I am. Why did I come? The verification above. PLEASE be right about this one.

Haha seriously. I think the people who comment there come from the same neck of the woods as those extremists in the bang bang group

I made this comment because We are get very good talent that wants to be here. Just like Malik trying to recruit more young men to come to ND.

I seriously think this kid may single handedly make this class a top 3 class. He keeps recruiting for us and never stops. He's been chatting up rochell, bell and others on Twitter. Amazing kid and he's the best recruiter this program has right now.

He certainly looks to me like the best commit-recruiter Notre Dame has ever had. I am ignorant of history though.

Here's another article with Malik:
Notre Dame football: Recruits take on role of recruiters

He's quickly becoming my favorite recruit and really seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

My favorite part:

“I think the great alumni and great fans of Notre Dame all over the
world, they've been loyal long enough,” Zaire said. “I think that it's
time we start changing some things around and bringing back
championships and national championships to this school.”

Malik is the sh*t.

I followed recruiting since 07 and the only one I can remember somewhat recruiting on level with Zaire was cave. I'm pretty sure he'd have recruits stay at his house

With the mindset that he currently has, he will be a starting QB at ND and do great things! First left-handed QB to ever start at ND?

100% at this point is trademarked by Ronald Darby and Taylor Decker.

If he so much as talks to any other schools you pull his scholarship. The end. Same for any of our OL recruits. When we shut down a position because you signed up, then you better not be looking.

While I agree with you I don't think many others will.

I mean... I can't read the article for context because I don't do Rivals... but you just simply cannot continue to pussy foot around with players who want to "commit" but not really commit. They will plague you and your entire recruiting class. The ONLY reason our class last year didn't have two high 4:s: CBs in it is because we took "commitments" from kids who were essentially wide open.

the inmates run the asylum.. it's what wrong with sports today.. I agree with you, but if we cut the kid's scholarship, less kids will commit once they see that.. if we let him keep his scholarship and continue to look for schools, he might f**k us.. they really do hold all the cards.. we've had players "married to ND" and players with ND tattoos bow out of the program in the last month, and it's just very discouraging..

I really think there should be an early signing period.. get rid of all this BS "verbal commitment" nonsense and make kids show their commitment with their signature.. you're committed to us? show it.. don't verbal somewhere just to hold a spot then switch last second when something better comes along.. I guess I was brought up different, but I was taught if I gave someone my word, I better make damn sure I follow through with it..

it's really not an ideal situation at all, but I guess you gotta go with the lesser of two evils.. "he/him" I'm referring to in my post is just generic, not aimed at any particular player

Gotta know that they don't follow recruiting sagas for the year. So if they're "following" in anothers footsteps, its unintentional. I'm not worried.

We refer a lot around here to the 40 year decision. We proclaim to "love" those players who commit to Notre Dame and love them even more once they lace 'em up for our team. But if the mood strikes us, we will absolutely refer to them as "inmates." SMH

For a 17-18 year old kid, this is hands down the biggest decision of his life. I have no problem with a kid taking all the time he wants. You can't fault a kid for wanting to go somewhere he is comfortable.

players don't run sports leagues? "inmates run the asylum" is a popular phrase used to describe this.. I'm not really sure how to respond.. I wasn't calling our recruits/players inmates like they're some sort of criminals, I was simply using a metaphor to show how the current sports landscape is perceived.. don't really know how to respond to this, don't really know your angle..
