This year will be a crap shoot in terms of timing. I can see a situation where we get 5+ in the next 3-4 months, but I can also see us pulling only 2-3. Performance last year, the QB situation being what it is, and quality depth in some areas could mean mean struggles for us until 3-5 games into the season. But, lack of depth in other areas, in-state love, Catholic kids, balls out recruiting, or a combination of these could mean a decent haul. I think right now there are a few kids with ND at the top of the list. I think we also have several WRs looking at us partially due to Gunner's signing. Either way it's a crap shoot. I think too many folks are watching scUM and freaking out. I'll be happy if we get 3 by the spring game, and nail JS in July. If the rest wait for us to go 4-0, I'm OK with that too.

Just wondering... a lot of people think we'll start 4-0 and a lot of recruits will commit. Are those people predicting a BCS type season?

I personally am not.

I think it's just because our first 4 game stretch is probably the most winnable stretch

As to that: when we were recruiting Ben Koyack, and he came to the Spring game, I'd bet a bunch of vbucks and even some regular ones that Kelly somewhat bent the offense a little out-of-normal to fling it all around to the tight ends. If you guys remember, Ragone was nearly the star of that game.

That Spring game was a TE Pass Catching Workshop.

So, which recruits are coming to the spring game, and how might we see the Master Psychologist massage his offense [or defense] to appeal to them??

Seeing as OTs are a focus, expect a heavy diet of Tackle Eligible plays.

Actually, I expect heavy emphasis demonstrating that this is NOT a Charley Molnar Offense.

I can get behind this.

would certainly make my day..i thought last year's game was just because who was playing...nope, still the same offense during the season...can't wait to see this and think this was the BEST move made in offseason

Call me blind but was there a strong hatred towards Charley? I'm indifferent I just wanted to know. Was he holding the offense back so to speak?

serious? i didn't see italics

I'm curious about this too. Everyone knew that our offense was bad last year, but if I remember correctly most of the blame was on our quarterback situation and (sometimes) Kelly's play calling. I don't remember Molnar being hated at all?

i am of the belief whether it is right or not is that charley was not very innovative w/ our offense.i realize we didn't have a mobile qb however how many times did we have very predictable plays?? it was a very dumb down offense not just due to qb but it had very little misdirection or different formations (anything) to help cause confusion.....and i also think this is what caused us to have to burn a lot of timeouts because plays were not getting relayed...fighting amongst charley and BK through head set and then getting it to the qb...many of times i saw kelly on sideline not very happy in talking in headset

i would have put the whole play calling on BK however after reading between the lines once Molnar left and Martin promoted...it now makes sense

From what I understand it's been hinted at that Molnar and Kelly kind of bumped heads on the play calling.

Martin seems to want to work more with Kelly rather than be bull headed.

EDIT: yeah! What he said ^

So with James Onwualu committing that gives us 3. 7 by July would mean 4 commits in 4 months. That seems outlandish!!!

I saw something on twitter that there has been only one other time in the last 10 years we have had 3 commits this early (2008).

Kelly and staff (ecspecially Elliot it seems) deserve credit an deserve the commits; giving up their time from vacation to see James

....I would accept an apology from said people who inferred I was mentally handicapped and/or high just saying

I think the next commit will be Bivins, if we can get him to visit. He keeps extending his basketball season.

Didn't you say 7 by July? It's still March. I never called you dumb for saying that but if you're expecting others to apologize, you should wait til your prediction comes true.

Yeah probably

But Jaylon Smith sounds weird to say a 5* is a lock but really he is, buckeye boards don't think they will get him and purdue is purdue. Tweets about ND all the time

Bivin I would say 60% chance maybe
Elliot is a ND lock that's a fact. Just a timetable like smith
tre bell seems like a lean. Might announce much later though
And then I said someone I don't know yet probably

4.5 months 4 players w/ spring game and junior day I can see it

Well first of all we are in top 3 with Ohio st and mizzou
Just likes Ohio st. Wiltfong or sapp said its a two team race with mizzou
Mizzou is home team and parents went there.
ND: A favorite of his mom as always wanted him to go here, values education (goes to top school in MO), likes that he is an ATH for us and track program and most important...

I'm friends and play football with/go to school with his bestfriend and he told me haha
