It is certainly a reasonable theory. They have 16 and should take 20-22. The remaining spots look like they need to be filled with 3 - 4 DL a WR and possibly a S. Although, if the right playmaker wants a spot I could see Hoke taking one less DT to fill the spot. Or like you questioned, just force a commit out. But who? They have a pretty well rounded class right now.
Michigan's class will be 22 to 24. This comes from Brady Hoke speaking at an Alumni function in Detroit. Brian at Mgoblog was there, and reported this, video-taped portions of Hoke speaking as well.
That leaves 6 to 8 scholarships.
Wyatt Shallman is a 6'3, 255 pound 16-year old high school junior that barely played RB the past season because of injuries. He was pretty limited in 2011, played basically only on defense, which was very different from his sophomore year when he played both ways. There is no way in hell he ever sees the field at RB in college. Telling him he will play RB is nothing more than a recruiting tactic IMO.
“@SWiltfong247: Ty Isaac has shared the ball with two other Division-I RBs in his high school career. He won't care about competition wherever he goes.”
I disagree with Stevie here. Seems like he likes USC because of lack of depth and made a point to mention that ND only wants one RB and is aware of the possible depth overload at UM too
USC will be taking at least 2 RB's, probably more like 3. They have a huge need at the position. I think he likes USC because of USC.
There is no depth overload of RB's at Michigan. Wyatt Shallman has as much of a chance of playing RB in college as you or I have of winning the lottery IMO.
