Lax i remember that case but that is 1 out of thousands of kids. Just saying on the average it has little to no effect on recruits.

Great, we really need Ronald Darby to be speculated to go elsewhere, along with the Gunner debate! yay

I think all turns out in our favor when it's all said and done. Might be a little unnerving like with Tuitt and Lynch last year, but they both came back around. Darby has been with us so long, and it's easy to feel strongly after a visit, but I have faith in both the coaching staff and current recruits like Tee, Chris Brown, & Baratti to convince Darby that ND is the best place for him as a player and a young man.

There appears to be some smoke based on his tweet after his visit to Clemson. Something about not knowing what to do and having to pray on it.

Oh I read that post. I think Darby has really looked for a reason to go elsewhere based on outside pressure, but he has not, and will not, find that reason. I'm not worried.

Manti Te'o prayed on his recruitment and look where he ended up. Coach Kelly and the staff must make a visit to Darby ASAP to reassure him.

This is becoming too much..

I don't think I can handle this.

And it is just getting started. Tis the season for poaching recruits (and not just other teams trying to poach our recruits, but also us trying to take other teams).

Coach Diaco needs to brew up some coffee after the bowl game and close.

I've known a lot of Clemson grads thru the years, including an insufferable brother-in-law. I obviously don't know Darby but my perception of him seems like going to Clemson is the proverbial square peg. Just doesn't seem to fit.

What makes you guys even first begin to think that that post is about where he wants to go to school?

Because we are all insecure teens (or adults whatever) who don't want to be dumped by our girlfriend (Darby) so we read into every little comment she (he) makes. SMH

First, is there genuine concern over Darby flipping to Clemson? If so, here is a brief comparison of the value offered by ND and Clemson to their African-American football players.

Graduation Success Rate for AA Football Players:
ND- 100% (1st in BCS*)
Clemson- 55% (41st in BCS)

30 year Return for Graduates:
ND- $1,623,900 (2nd in BCS)
Clemson- $922,300 (29th in BCS)

Expected 30 year Return for AA Football Players:
ND- $1,575,183 (2nd in BCS)
Clemson- $507,265 (36th in BCS)

ND offers ~3x more value than Clemson to its African-American football players.

*Rankings compare only schools with football programs in AQ conferences and schools that have made recent BCS appearances. There are a total of 70 schools ranked, so 35th is the median.

Sources:
Degree Value
Graduation Success Rate
Full BCS Rankings for the Above Data

Darby seems like a smart kid. How could he flip from ND to a school that's only offering 1/3 of the value?

I'm still debating posting some ROI stuff in the Bang Bang Notre Dame FB group. It's clear that a lot of our current verbals and players read it, so it might make a real impact. Unfortunately, FB posts allow for virtually no formatting, so it would be difficult to present the information comprehensibly.

So should I hold off on posting? Post something in the FB group? Friend Darby (*shudder*) and send it to him via FB Message?

You could post a short synopsis about what your ROI info is on FB and how it pertains to their future and then post a link to it here?? I don't know but it is certainly great info for a kid that wants to make that 40 year decision.

They talked to his coach. He said Darby just wants to see different places and is a kid. ND coaches visited last week and he thinks it went well, but doesn't know which coaches were there because he himself wasn't there. Darby is still committed to ND.

Guy on II made this post on Darby:

46 Defense:

I'm not the staff, so you can take it for whatever you want.

I've known Ronald for a while and spoke to him for quite a while tonight. I'm not getting into details, but at no point in that conversation did I get a vibe that he is anything but 100% Irish.

The football part of the conversation revolved around the fact that he couldn't wait to play in front of 80,000+ fans at Notre Dame, his future teammates and that he hoped Nelson and Gunner committed too.

He's also working out with former All-Pro NFL cornerback Troy Vincent on the weekends to refine his technique at cornerback.

I wouldn't worry about him at all.

Trust it, cool. Don't trust it, fine with me. Just passing it along.
