I think we take Agholor no matter what. Get one of Thomas, Darboh, or Payton and take Nelson if he wants to come IMO.

I purposely left out Agholor because he's a given. There will be a spot for him. Hence the question, "one of Thomas, Darboh, Payton..."

The staff clearly will not take all three plus Agholor. So where does it stop? I assume it's just one of the above mentioned. If that's the case (which is most likely will be), then who's our slot if Thomas doesn't commit? Brown? It seems the staff really wanted a true slot WR in this class. Accepting a commitment from Payton or Darboh doesn't necessarily fill this need. Just last week we all thought Treggs was slot choice #1 and Thomas was slot choice #2. Darboh and Payton were considered heavy leans to Iowa and UM respectively. Now it seems Darboh still has heavy Irish interest and Payton evidently has a decision to make. There in lies the question: I assumed Thomas and Agholor were our only two WRs left on the board who the staff would take commits from barring Treggs didn't switch over the weekend (which he didn't). Does the staff take a WR commit on a first come, first serve basis now regardless of who it is (and figure out the positions later)? Or do they prefer to have Thomas over Darboh and Payton to fill the slot need? Sorry if the wording doesn't make sense.

Brown would look just fine in the slot. Plenty of speed and shiftiness. He is being overlooked because there is not much out there in terms of watchable film on him, but he is pretty electric with the ball in his hands.

Trip number two, correct? He loved it the first time. If he loves it as much or more this time, I don't see how he doesn't commit.

If Darboh commits, I assume that shuts the door on Payton (and possibly sends him to the skunkbears). Hopefully we still keep a full-court press on Neal and Agholor.

Ferguson, Brown, Darboh, Greenberry + Neal/ Agholor would be a truly absurd WR haul.

Now if Darboh picks us, Payton falls into UM's lap and vice versa? or are there some more spots available at Michigan? Other players?

Am I totally off here?

Enjoyed the visit, said players were cool/nice, could see himself fitting in with them. Talked with Coach Martin and also talked to coaches about how he would fit in the offense. Hosted by Mathias Farley (one of best and most outgoing personalities on the team). Will visit Michigan and Florida, has been to Wisconsin and Iowa already. Will have decision by Christmas. He will have surgery on his shoulder around that time and wants to be able to focus on recovery after that and not recruiting.

Recruiting Week In Review

Amara Darboh, WR, 6-2, 200, Dowling Catholic High School, West Des Moines, IA had previously visited Notre Dame on three occasions but when he took his official visit to South Bend for the Boston College game it was different.

“It was good to see different things, not just the campus, and meet different people, not just football players or athletes,” related Darboh. “It was pretty good.”

Darboh also had the opportunity to bring one of his guardians, Dan Schaefer, along on the trip.

“It was good,” said Darboh of Schaefer’s experience. I think he liked it. We got there and we got to talk to the coaches and stuff. We went to dinner and I hung out with Matthias (Farley) and the guys.”

Farley served as Darboh’s host and the choice seemed to be a good one.

“He was cool,” said Darboh. “I felt comfortable around him and everything. He’s a good dude.

Darboh also got the opportunity to meet and get to know several other players.

“They all seemed cool and they were all nice and it felt like I could fit right in,” he said.

This was Darboh’s first trip since April’s Blue-Gold Game. He used it as an opportunity to learn more about the Notre Dame offense and how he might fit in.

“Saturday I learned about the offense and I got a chance to talk to Coach (Chuck) Martin a little bit,” remembered Darboh. “He told me what he thinks about me and how I’d fit in the offense at Notre Dame.”

Darboh will require surgery to repair a shoulder he injured during the season. He plans to wrap up all of his official visits and make a decision before having surgery to repair it. Michigan and Florida will be his last two official visits, and then he plans to make a decision around the holidays.

“That’s what I’m thinking, it’s going to be by Christmas,” said the four-star wideout. “I’m going to go into surgery about that time and I want to get it over with and focus on recovering from surgery. “

Might just be me, but I kinda feel like Amara lost some of his luster in the coaches eyes and vice versa. I don't exactly think either party is as interested as they were earlier this season, but we'll see.

Just wondering, when was the last time ND snagged a kid out of the state of Iowa? I know we missed on Christian French last year. It also seems that the University of Iowa does a great job of retaining in-state recruits.

Hope he goes to Michigan. He's probably the lesser of their remaining receiver targets (Darboh, Payton, Diggs, and Darius Powe).

If they take Darboh and Payton still have room for the linemen?

Yes unfortunately. Right now they have 23 commits and I have seen in numerous places that they can take up to 28.

Wouldn't it just suck if their last 5 were Garnett, McNamara, Darboh, Payton, and Dunn.

And before someone says it, I refuse to believe that Diggs will end up at UM.

One of the few things I'm plugged into is private schools in MD/VA because of lax. I can tell you that interest heated up for Diggs from UM/ND because he got some academic things corrected. I can also tell you that there is a very, very small chance that Diggs doesn't end up going SEC. I reallllllly don't see him at Michigan unless him and Countess are more tight than what I've heard. But weirder things have happened... so who knows?

Bottom line is if they can take only 28, I'm pretty sure one of their recruits is a "gray shirt" so I think they have 6 total open spots (before, of course, Hoke starts forcing more people out or encouraging decommits from this class).

Diamond, Garnett, Darboh, Payton, Dunn, Mcnamara? That would take their class from above average with high "quantity" to very strong.
