Cam was a very dangerous punt returner in high school. He does not have the top-end speed of a Theo Riddick-type of returner, but he has at least previously demonstrated the ability to catch the ball cleanly and then move it up field some. That is a skill that this team does not currently possess, as has been painfully obvious from our punt-returning misadventures through the first three weeks of the season.

Is it time to give Cam a shot at punt returns? Giving GAIII the chance at kick returns certainly paid off.

Kelly has already said during August camp that Cam was being considered as a punt returner due to his good hands. But I think that the recent press conference hinted that Robbie Toma could be a future "experiment".

I don't think we need one. It seems silly to waste a year of eligibility when Cierre is running like beast and jonas is running well too.

Well GAIII has already used this year, so it seems more like they just haven't needed a third yet.

^This. Ready to step in if needed, but not needed at the moment. Hopefully we'll get to see Dayne, Hendrix, GAIII, Cam, DD, Koyak, and others in mop up time later this season.

Did anyone see Cams one play? I think he ran for about 2 yards. I was really getting upset that Kelly never put him in but I now can see why. Not for lack of talent because I'm sure its their, but he looked extrememly small out there.

Thats what I thought as well. Looked very small out there. Also, why burn a redshirt year?

I was two rows up from the 40 yard line... I was amazed by how small mcdaniel was.. Kelly himself soared over cam..

I still think Cam should be our slot WR. Sub 4 shuttle. Our backfield will be too crowded in a year or two IMO.

He might get there eventually, but Kelly can't move him until we're otherwise 4-5 deep at RB; and I'm sure moving GAIII back to WR is a higher priority.

This. Who knows what happens with Roberson and a verbal is nice but until they sigh we only have 2 legit TB's, one of which is gone next year

GAIII will be a RB. Needs a big S&C offseason to build up his lower body and core. Look at Cierre Wood last year vs. this year. He can break a tackle and get YAC after going through an off season with Longo.

Kelly has cited that GA III doesn't have the ball skills to play WR.

Could not agree more. Some off season Strength and Conditioning should pay off huge dividends.

I got a pretty up close look at Cam at the Wake game. He's not that tall but he is put together. I think he's going to have a good career and have an impact.

i'd love to see Cam get some time in the coming games and hurdle some guys like he did in high school!

IMO, Atkinson wins easily.

Agree. Cam seems like a pretty talented kid who works hard, but (aside from some notable exceptions to the rule - we've heard about them) there's often a reason why some people have more stars than others. George looks like he could be special.

We were one of the few teams that didn't want to move him to slot.
