Completely agree.

Advantages:

QB - USC
RB - ND
WR - ND (right?)
OL - ND
TE - ND
DL - ND
LB - ND (right?)
DB - USC (not sure)
ST - USC

I made this up in like 2 minutes (have class in 5) so I didn't think this through very much so forgive my errors, but I haven't seen a position break down so hopefully this will get one started.

You're not too far off from where I have it. But I'll take our DBs over theirs in a heartbeat, as Blanton is a stud and Gray, for all his troubles, is far better than their 3rd string corner who will be starting this weekend (Wiley, a JC transfer who they were high on and has great size - height-wise - but who thoroughly unimpressed me in their scrimmage).

Honestly, I'd take USC's WR core as a whole over ours right now, but I'd rather have Alford coaching them and Kelly calling the plays. There's a ton of talent on their unit, moreso IMO than ND, however Kiffin doesn't use them creatively at all.

Special teams though, a HUGE edge to USC. I mean, it's not even close right now. And really, that is only one category on your list, when it should be like 3. They're obviously really important and could be game-changers here.

Can't friggin wait for the game!

Lets hope we take care of business everywhere else so that Special Team play can't change the game.

How does USC's QB depth stack up against the Irish? Rees should do fine, but even if something happens to him, you've got very capable back-ups in Crist and Hendrix. If Barkley goes out, do they have backups that are anywhere near ours, talent/experience-wise? Not rhetorical questions here, I really don't know.

No. Not at all.

If Barkley goes down, they're finished.

Two true freshman behind Barkley.

Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium was a playground for us kids. I worked as a vendor at both Yankee Stadium and Polo Grounds 1953-55 and saw over three hundred Yankee and Giant ballgames and three World Series. Plus I worked Giant Football Games and the great Heavyweight Championship bouts. Yes and I knew all the Yankees and many lived in my neighborhood. I knew all the Giant ballplayers too. Got a ton of great stories but another time..

Kiffin is irked that ND "moved" the game to primetime after USC made it's travel arrangements, even though the primetime announcement was made months ago.

Slowest work of my life, I think the game gets out of hand in the first half and usc makes a bit of push in the second half.

ESPN said in their Rumor Central that USC may see a "suprise RB" from us. It's insider, so I didn't read it. Should we assume that this would be Atkinson?

I guess, but would that really be a suprise? I mean Kelly came out and said he is a RB... I don't think he'd be getting the lions share of carries between Cierre and Jonas either. hmm

Theo Riddick package?

Pretty sure that's referencing Tyler being back for them. The surprise is that he is back from injury already (or at least plans to be by saturday).

What would be my first clue that its about Tyler? Could be the title of the rumor... UPDATE: Tyler might play against ND

not sure what your referring to because there is nothing about Tyler in the headline

That's the teaser. Click the link and it's in bold, very large font. Its ESPN's super sneaky way of getting clicks. Its not a surprise, as Kiffin and Tyler have both said earlier in the week that Tyler expects to play.

We'll see how Tyler feels in the second half after he tries to pound it up the middle through Nix and Teo for 30 mins.. If he's not 110% to start the game he will most likely not finish it.

This.

To put a finer point on it, USC is ranked 18th for ST and ND is ranked 89th. I'll be nervous whenever there's a kicker on the field, Saturday.

And as for the QB depth behind Barkley, I really don't want to see him go down. I'm confident we'll beat them soundly with him anyway, and Barkley is USC's only hope of salvaging a respectable season. If Barkley goes down, our SoS goes with him.

Per espn: Los Angeles Usc Blog - ESPN Los Angeles

the Fighting Irish have two talented receivers in Michael Floyd and Theo Riddick, and Wiley will probably be asked to spend a considerable amount of time on Floyd because of the seven-inch height difference between he and Nickell Robey.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound, Isiah Wiley, a junior-college transfer who had essentially only played on special teams before last week's game against California, has watched and re-watched the game tape from last week and is convinced he knows what to do against the Irish.

Or what not to do, really: hesitate. He had two interception opportunities against the Bears but missed out on both of them because he failed to react quickly enough.

"What I've seen from the first game is that the speed is a lot faster than junior-college football," Wiley said. "Basically, I've gotta capitalize on all my interception opportunities and focus on the mental aspects of the game and be ready to make plays when they're presented to me."

Good luck defending Floyd
