Giving Chase With The Irish

It's not only that he is ready to play — but once he does, he doesn’t stop. Ask Hounshell about what his prime asset is and he will reply it’s a motor that doesn’t possess an off switch.

“I’ve always played physical. I don’t take downs off,” Hounshell said. “I play 110 percent no matter what … Effort, energy, I’m going to go out there every play and be physical and I’m going to go and attack that tackle, and I’m going to do my assignment.”

He went out of the game on Saturday due to an injury. It looked like a shoulder stinger. Does anyone know if the injury was more serious than it looked?

Poster in ISD says he has heard and confirmed that Hounshell is out for the season with a torn labrum.

Tough break. Front 7 is good but depth is starting to get hurt.

It's going to be a rough year for this defense.

Very little depth on the DL and in the secondary.

So on the DLine we've now got:

Day, Kap, Kona, Nix, Springmann, Tuitt, Jones.

Am I forgetting anyone?

Heggie.

Okay, I wasn't going to say it. 92 to 91. I predictend Tyler Stocton would play. I just wish I would have narrowed the parameters and qualified myself, just a little bit. There are there walkons Grant Patton, Dominic Romeo, and Kevin Carr, some of whom are bigger than a tree. Also there is Romeo Okwara, who some are saying is outgrowing a LB position. And we always have several linebackers who could fill in. We good.

That looks right to me and I'm thinking Okwara will get a look at DE because of depth issues maybe even Ishaq too with Shembo at CAT in certain situations. That's a big if though.

Okwara will almost certainly redshirt. He's 6'5" 250ish (probably more) right now. I expect him to get up to around 280 and play 3-4 DE
