I just wrote this on ISD:
Since you brought up USC, as I've said since their first practice, I think Kiffy-boy is nuts. Making up for last year's lack of hitting, he is holding 3 hour marathon practices every day (plus a few 2-a-days), including a 3 hour long scrimmage at the Coliseum the first day they could don full pads. First of all, as a player I'd HATE that. I'd much rather go really strong for 2 hours than pretend to be able to go strong (both physically and mentally) for 3 hours. And 2nd of all, injuries will mount up. And of course, the injuries are mounting up:
Galippo (shoulder, still a few days away)
Scroggins (wrist, out indefinitely)
Farmer (back)
Townsend (ribs)
Walker (just returned)
Woods (ankle - returned to practice)
Carlisle (quad)
DiPaola (surgery - out for the year)
Christian Thomas
Topou (sp?) - knee
Dion Bailey
McAllister - hamstring
Tyler O'Grady (sp - never heard of him)
Christian Heyward
Brian Bauchman
Tony Burnett
TJ MacDonald (day to day)
Demetrius Wright
Cody Temple
Zack Kuschner (never heard of him, sp)
18 of those guys either missed yesterday's practice or got banged up yesterday and had to leave the practice (Carlisle, McAllister, Townsend, and Farmer). Today he's finally going to take it easy at practice, and then tomorrow a full-out scrimmage again. He says they are getting thin but that's the decision they went with and they're going to live with it.
Kiffy-boy as a top 10 coach? Child please. He wouldn't even be a top 10 coach in the Pac 12...
