We want to be ranked ahead of everyone we can be every week. That psychologically establishes that the Committee doesn't want anyone last minute jumping us. Stay ahead of OU. Get ahead of Alabama. Get ready to jump Ole Miss and Oregon.

I legitimately think that he originally intended to run Carr more and then after Week 1 was like "this guy is not going to make it through the season with this kind of gameplan, also it doesn't play to his strengths"

One of his biggest issues right now is that the pass calls in short yardage and goal-to-go aren't fooling anyone and aren't working. Far too often they are single route kind of plays where if it's covered you have NOTHING. The play is dead.

I think they could try spreading everyone out and trying some different plays, especially if it means getting a 1-on-1 opportunity for Fields. But in general, just scrap everything they have and start over. You have two games here to "practice."

I wonder that's a general concern about Carr's decision making. Denbrock might be willing to accept Carr having a "one read or die" rather than put him in a situation where he needs to make reads in a short field.

To your first point, maybe thats why the QB decision took so long in camp. Denbrock probably thought Minchey fit his system better but Carr showed he had better arm and command of the playbook.

This is what you’d want. I doubt they do it though.
Would be nice- then next 2 weeks hope for Oregon, TT, or Ole Miss to lose to get a better seed to avoid OSU second round

They will keep OU and bama ahead of us until conference championship week. That Oregon at 7 Is blasphemy.

Maybe, I just don’t feel they’re great this year. I’d rather play this years OSU, than last. Maybe I’m selling them short, 🤷‍♂️. I just don’t see where they’ve really been tested.

I hate to agree with “Coach D” but I do see his point. OSU “hasn’t been tested” because they haven’t played with their food. IU had a “big win” to give Mendoza a “Heisman moment” when they squeaked out a win against a 3 win PSU team. I’m not gonna knock OSU for just smothering teams all season.

If Oklahoma really beats Bama, Missouri, and LSU in 3 consecutive weeks they can go on and be ranked ahead of us. But I don't think they will.

You are right. But just like today in the 4th when Carr ran for the TD. If you do that every once in a while it will catch people off guard. Jeffery does a good job blocking but we need someone bigger in that situation.

We did have a QB sneak tonight that I wasn’t expecting. That was a nice change.
At the opposite end of the field! Wasn’t a good one either. Charlie Weiss as much S he sucked at so much had great QB sneak teams.

CBS Sports projects ND to get jumped by OU.

Which actually isn't too hateful...

They have ND as the 10 seed playing at Ol Miss, then facing a 2nd round matchup with aTm.

The winner of the 8/9 game (OU/OU - lawl) gets the Buckeyes in R2.

I expect Oklahoma jumps us Tuesday, but Alabama may take the 10th spot. They're likely going to be either 9th or 10th I'd wager, which means we could drop one since Oklahoma probably jumps.

we beat a ranked Pitt team today and they wont penalize us for winning. We have to worry about the CCG's at this point

Maybe not, but I could still see them jumping Oklahoma over us. They had a bad loss against Texas, but Oklahoma has beaten a good Alabama team, Tennessee, and Michigan. It's possible that Alabama doesn't drop more than 4-5 too, so we could get pushed down to 10th. I'm hoping Washington or USC beats Oregon, and maybe LSU finds a way to beat Oklahoma just in case. Way too many SEC teams ahead of us and nipping at our heels, and a lot of them have no meaningful games left to play. Would like some breathing room.

I think ND drops to 10. Alabama won't drop below ND and Oklahoma will jump ND.

Oklahoma 8, Alabama 9, ND 10

ND will have gone from being the top ranked 2 loss team to the 3rd ranked 2 loss team all in one week.

Wow what an emotional 180!
Went to bed on a high after yesterdays awesome win only to jump on these boards this morning to find out we might not make the playoffs.
This sport is a rollercoaster.

A good Michigan team? Are we talking about the same team?

I don't know what the disadvantage is to playing OSU in the second round (after they have a bye) rather than later on. At some point, you have to actually beat the team you "can't" beat. Michigan couldn't beat OSU, and then they did. OSU couldn't beat an SEC team, and then they did. Georgia couldn't beat Bama, and then they did. I guess people are hoping that some other team knocks off OSU, but I wouldn't count on that, either.

Would love to somehow get to the 7 seed. Really at this point.. Just want a home playoff game. Not sure how we can not get in at this point winning our last two
