I will say that Schmidt’s FG miss just from the naked eye didn’t look like a holder / kicker mechanics issue. It just looked like a wide left kick and a miss.

He just isn't striking the ball well, kickoffs included. Think he hit two out of bounds against USC if I remember correctly.

He was going to walk on at wisconsin before we offered him a scholly. Think the whole every other big program thing here is wildly overstated. Kicker rankings are fake.

The college kids that kick on Gameday (many former soccer players) are making roughly 30 yarders at a close to greater than 50% clip.

Obviously not the same as in game, but we should not be struggling this much in comparison.

I'm not convinced there's such thing. My take on kickers is that the kid you recruit is who you got for 4 years. They have it or they don't.
