One of two things need to happen this week:
We start trying out bench players from the soccer team
ND reinstates the Intramural Dorm Football program and we pull a kicker from there...again
Would you call that a crawl on?

He was going to walk on at wisconsin before we offered him a scholly. Think the whole every other big program thing here is wildly overstated. Kicker rankings are fake.
I thought he had a scholarship offer from Wisconsin & a walk-on offer from ND before the Irish upped the ante w/ a full scholarship offer that got him to flip?

Arkansas, BC & Pitt all have excellent kickers. Two are true freshmen. BC & Arkansas are both programs in shambles, start back channeling now.

How bad must this Aussie punter be at kicking field goals for the staff not to have given him a shot yet?

One of my co-workers has a son who punts for NIU. He attended the same kicking camp at ND last year w/ Eric Schmidt where they became friends. My co-worker had heard about his struggles & said they were surprised that he was getting a chance to kick b/c he’s known more for his punting. I told them ND has indeed struggled and Schmidt has not looked good in all 3 phases of the kicking game. Is this Rendell’s final season of eligibility? If so, maybe he was their long term solution at punter &/or kick off and they didn’t expect to need him for FG/XP this season. Gotta think they go hard after some of the great young kickers who are in other programs this year.

I like the info, and it's fair to say he was more highly regarded as a punter, but he was also the #1 kicker in the country by 247 composite.

I will say that Schmidt’s FG miss just from the naked eye didn’t look like a holder / kicker mechanics issue. It just looked like a wide left kick and a miss.
It's his placement on the ball and it's mind boggling for the #2 rated kicker in the country!!
