I read your question and burger king jumped to mind before I got to the end. Burger King is phenomenal on its best day. The Whopper is the best signature sandwich in the game.

Im a former DQ employee. I really hated that people consider it fast food*. Its not. Its fast-ish food. The burger you order is frozen when the cook gets your order. Same with chicken strips...etc. the Flamethrower is phenomenal.

*nothing worse than an asshole ordering dinner for his family at the drive thru. Holding up all the well-adjusted productive members of society who want an ice cream cone.

Fast food to me is BK, McDonald's, Wendy's, (insert regional picks).

Popeyes boneless/tenders have gone to shit, at least in our area. They come out like 75% breading and barely any chicken. It's awful. You get way more chicken from KFC tenders which is kind of pathetic on Popeye's part.

Go to El Charro, The Original. Great tacos. They specialize in Carne Seca. The Bisbee Breakfast Club, has a decent dinner breakfast.

About a mile from me is a retail strip with a Portillo's and a Five Guys that share a parking lot, and Culver's directly across the street. Portillo's is always jammed, Culver's is always hopping, line always 5 or 6 deep at the drive through. You could fire a cannon into the Five Guys and not hit anybody. That's how my town rates them, and how I would rate them too. Five Guys is good, but greasy and expensive. Comes in 3rd in that trio. Used to be a Whopper guy, but the local franchise has fallen on hard times, was shut down for a couple of months last year for health violations, so I avoid them now. I could throw a rock and hit the Wendy's and DQ stores, and MickeyD is next block over. I wave at them while driving to Portillo's.

Ok my thoughts,… I haven’t had everything here but church’s is absolutely not tiers above KFC, Canes and CFA… if anything that aspect is completely backwards. Not a huge Church’s fan. I dont hate it but yeah. Jolibee should be included too,… maybe in B tier.

I do feel Popeyes is the best fast food of any kind in the country now. Not just chicken. It’s the only FF spot that has gotten better over the last twenty years (InO has stayed the same) while every other spot got much worse (like Whataburger and Del Taco) or much worse in value (like BK and McDs) Popeyes with the additions they’ve made to the menu and their overall value would be my pick for best FF period. Now they aren’t perfect either…. I go for the sandwich, wings, fries and red beans. I leave buckets of chicken alone, it often sits too long and dries out,… but again it’s fast food… not some Michelin star joint.

ZERO chance any human with taste buds could eat the best piece of chicken Popeye's has ever produced then any random piece of chicken Gus's has produced and think they are comparable. Popeye's is fast food, (maybe the best fast food if you put places like Portillo's in Fast Casual) while Gus's is consistently as good or better than my grandma's scratch FC and my Grandma made world class skillet fried chicken.

Thank goodness Gus's decided to come to AZ. Eating there tomorrow.
