I think the reason for the Georgia game was the fact we were coming off a 4-8 season and people were down on the program. I'd be shocked if a visiting team "took over" the stadium in a home playoff game during the inaugural playoff season.
The people that complain about visiting fans and taking over the stadium don’t even go to the home games to answer their own question. The Ohio State game last year is your answer.

No, ND stadium is not being taken over by every fan base wearing red. And yes, ND has a great atmosphere when it’s a big game at night (a lot to be desired for day games).

ND is unique in having most of their fanbase spread out all over the country as opposed to all these other schools having large local fanbases. it makes ND stadium a little more susceptible to being overrun by an opposing fanbase willing to pay

I go to every home game, and yes there are way too many fans of the opposing team that get in. Not sure how the Ohio State game answers anything. I posted pictures from my seat on that day, and there were a shit ton. Maybe people are taking liberty with the term "take over" but it is definitely facts that opposing teams get in way more into ND then the opposite (except maybe a USC game).

Said earlier this week that Bama fans hanging out by default on an ND board is weird and kind of sad, but worse is seeing their program like this. We all agree CFB is better when Alabama is in the top echelon, hoping they move past this hire and get back sooner rather than later.

It is actually astounding that you got your whole belief system flipped the wrong way lol

I love our resident Bama bros @T Town Tommy and @Bishop2b5, but Bama can stay dead for a while imo

There were pretty long gaps between Bryant then Stallings and then Saban. I honestly don’t expect AL to reach the levels near the Saban era anytime soon.

That was the point I was trying to make, it’s overplayed. Traveling fans come because it’s ND.

Also, most of them do nothing about the fan takeovers they’re so concerned about because they aren’t at said game and see the red pop on tv no matter how many there actually are.

If IU is the opponent, they’ll sell their allotment. First time playing ND since 2001? Not a bad drive from Indy or Bloomington and the excitement of the opportunity to play against the big kid on the block.

Of course they'd sell 5,000, but IU isn't going to "take over" Notre Dame Stadium in a playoff game. No one will. I'd expect huge demand from season ticket holders and in the lottery, as this is a first-ever opportunity.
And just logistically speaking, it's a very different dynamic than a regular-season game. Notre Dame are already buying (refundable) tickets/hotel rooms in anticipation of a home game, regardless of the opponent. Whereas whoever we play will have, what, two weeks advance notice?

They’re trying to make an argument for South Carolina too.
if South Carolina wins at Clemson this weekend, they’ll have a pretty good resumé for a 3 loss team and would be ranked right on the cusp. Would not wanna play them in the first round, might be the hottest team in cfb rn.

Everything going on right now is proof that CCGs are going to go, or have to go.

Scenario: If you are a Georgia fan, how are you going to feel about making the CCG, losing, and being left out while Tennessee gets in while not having to play?

This.

I find these kinds of comments hilarious, that somehow certain teams being good is better for the sport overall for everyone. Speak for yourself. If the entire SEC could finish 6-6 I'd feel incredible joy.
Especially during a perceived down year for that conference that likes to puff out its chest, even though they don't play anybody outside of their own conference. Now that NIL is legal, and the scales have balanced quite a bit, they don't know how to handle it. But we've been calling them out for their scheduling around IE for a long, long time.

I mean, a former Big 12 school just waltzed right in and took over their conference. Think about that. And they have a bevy of 3+ loss teams and are crying because they might not get half of the playoff field? Get over yourselves. Play better or miss out, period.

Bingo. All of a sudden ND looks like geniuses for not having a CCG. And blast the stupid auto bids to the moon. Could you imagine an 8-4 Big12 team getting an auto bid and a bye? Criminal.

John Brice is adamant that if ND hosts, it will be the Friday night game. Absolutely love that ND will have the opportunity to kick off this new playoff system.

I agree that SC would be a dangerous team if they got in, I just don't see it happening. Their loss to Ole Miss was too damaging. They got smoked at home.

What is he basing that off of? It'll all be predicated on the matchups IMO. Hard to predict that this far out

Contemplating donating to Rockne Fund to try and get prime sideline tickets in the lottery. These are awesome face value prices
What are the WHITE sections 29-36? Does that represent the ~5,000 visitor seats allotment?

Best case scenario for environment and it allows me to attend the game and enjoy the Saturday games at home.

Please, for the love of God let this happen.

My wife told me last Friday her family Christmas is that Saturday. This is directly after my dad and I were going through the season ticket email and putting in our orders for the playoff tickets. Talk about a kick in the balls
