Yeah the only really distinctive quality of TAMU fb over the years has been the rabidity of their fan base.

"Since 2000, Notre Dame football has played in more conference championship games than Texas A&M and they aren’t even in a conference."

How many times was Alabama and LSU in your division?
So close to being a legit argument if you just said Alabama. LSU we are 2-1 in that time frame against

Haven't seen anything on the Vivid Seats Fan Forecast for Kyle Field tomorrow. I'm thinking that we'll probably have 10% or less there at the game

If we're going deep on A&M here, the stat that always comes back to me: They've had one 10-win season this century.

For comparison, Mizzou has had six. Auburn five. South Carolina and Arkansas have each had three. (Notre Dame has 10, including six of the last seven years)

A&M has many rabid fans, yes, and talented players. And they may well win tomorrow night. But as actually successful major programs go, whatever.

Only 89 for the high in College Station tomorrow. There goes their huge weather advantage.😂

Yeah, I never thought that would have a considerable outcome in the game. It's not a 2:30 game, and quickly glancing at the weather, it was pretty damn hot in South Bend this week - probably unseasonably hot. The weather will be a nonfactor once the sun goes down.

Also, I'm pretty sure many of Notre Dame's players are accustomed to playing in similar weather. I mean, off the top of my head, Riley Leonard is from Fairhope, Alabama, and Benjamin Morrison is from Phoenix, Arizona ... As we all know, not everyone one the roster hails from the Midwest.

Pete Sampson picked texas a&m to win 17-13. This place will be a war zone if that happens

2 Things I have A&M scoring 17 but there's no way ND doesn't score at least 24. I gurantee it's 24-17 or 30-17
When's the last time ND scored at least 24 points in a big game? Clemson 2020? I don't know if anything from the COVID year is all that valid... I sure hope you're right but it'd be the first time in a very long time

I'm thinking something like 27-21 ND. For whatever reason, I think fans and analysts are overvaluing the A&M defense. Elko's good and all, but so is Denbrock. There may be more field goals involved, but Denbrock will scheme up creative ways to keep the chains moving.

According to weather.com, at 7pm it'll be 70% humidity with a real feel of 94, so it's still a factor but certainly could be worse.

They scored 48 last year against USC.

I can almost guarantee you that the offense won’t look like what we’re used to seeing. Less 12 personnel, less hitting our head against a brick wall on 3rd and 1. For the first time since Chip Long, I have confidence in our OC.

2022 Clemson if you don't want to count 2023 USC.

He said a "big game" not Freeman's quintessential "circle the wagons" home game against a fringe top 25 big name only opponent so that we can preserve only having a 3/4 loss season instead of a 4/5 loss season.

I wouldn't want to be #23 FSU coming to South Bend this year---WATCH OUT--you might get a 24-spot dropped on ya Noles! Whoop Whoop

With this logic, I wouldn't consider on the road against the #20 team a big game.

Huh? Are you referring to USC or Clemson here?

If you're referring to Clemson, that Tigers team was ranked #4 coming into South Bend and finished the season 11-3. And ND whooped that ass that day.

I think the ND beat’s familiarity with Elko, and how quickly he can get the defense together, is coloring their view.

We all saw what a badass defensive coach he is, and he’s got plenty of potential to work with. He’s gonna cause ND problems for quite a while tomorrow night.

I do think the ND beat has a bit of “battered fan” syndrome. They are slightly overvaluing Elko, and not affording quite the same deference to Denbrock and ND’s revamped offense.

Everyone must be hedging along the lines of “ND will be 11-1, but this is too tough a game to get the ball rolling. They need the next three games to really get the offense on track.”

That 2017 Elko D gave up 41 to miami, 37 to Wake, and 38 to stanford.

Really only USC in 23 exploited Golden in his 2 years, (maybe Navy in 22 as well but that was more rees and his 3 and outs over and over).

This is definitely the vibe I was hearing from the ND media…….a lot of “the offense will look a lot different in October than it will in the first game”. Isn’t this the case almost every season? The question should be “will the offensive game plan and execution be effective in game 1”? We’ve got two OCs each in the first year with these respective players. We’ve got two DCs but only one is in their first year with their respective players. I like the fact that ND has an advantage on the DC side and much more experience on the OC side.

In fairness to Elko's brief stint in 2017, don't forget how BAD the 2016 ND defense was and what he was dealing with when he got here.

He turned it around quickly despite those few poor performances. It was a different feel to our D almost instantly, you have to admit that.

I agree. We have been good on defense since Elko. Elko saved BKs career. Elko is a hell of a coach. I wanted him to replace BK. Many wanted Freeman or Fickell. I actually wanted Elko. Let’s hope Freeman gets it done. So far he’s 3-0 vs Elko - beat him, hurt his QB, and then stole his QB.

Hostile Environment plus inexperienced ND OL seems to be the lazy narrative a bunch of TAMU beat (and national) folks are putting out
I agree and to be frank its getting really old. Outside of Knapp everyone earned their spot as the best man for the job. At least not initially I don't think the OL will be world beaters but I don't think they're going to be turnstiles like the media and aTm thinks. I also dont think I've seen this many weapons on offense since maybe 2015.

Al Golden has this defense rolling. I don’t see any true weaknesses on it. You’d have to knit pick to find one.
The Louisville and Clemson games last year are the ones I’m still scratching my head about and the 30+ they put on us. Some of that was the fault of the offense though. Otherwise I have a lot of confidence in our defense.

Lets not forget that Notre Dame has played in more Conference Championship games than TAMU, and Notre Dame doesn't play in a conference.
