Expecting to win and fold the program if they lose are completely different.

ND is walking into a hornet's nest of a road environment against a very good SEC team with one of the best x's and o's coach in college football who almost beat a superior ND team at home with DUKE'S talent level. I hope like hell they win, but if they don't it's not exactly the end of the world as long as they aren't run off the field (hasn't happened in a few years so not likely)

I concur. Jack didn't do us any favors by not having a bye week until after our 8th game. And we played in 4 straight prime time games, with two of them on the road for the biggest game of the season for those respective prograsm (Duke/L'Ville). The boys were gassed after OSU, pulled one out against a pesky and well-coached Duke team, then the tank was simply empty against L'Ville.

I'm not saying Freeman, Parker etc. were blameless, but many of us sighted last offseason how poor of a job Swarbrick did scheduling in 2023.

It's even worse that Louisville and ND BOTH had their bye week Oct. 21st. They could have both taken it Oct 7th, then come back refreshed for the USC, UL, Pitt, Clemson stretch. Complete fumble of the scheduling

Agreed, and these games "team's "performance" on the road against Duke, Ville, and Clemson, remembering the 2022 Marshall and Stanford" I blame more on offensive coaching ineptitude than MF.
With Denbrock running things I expect the offense to be somewhat competent.

Every year certain people in the media find a scapegoat before the season starts & basically says if ND loses, it’s that person’s fault. It’s been passed to Joe Rudolph. If ND loses, no matter how good the OL plays, Rudolph will be blamed.
If ND loses, it’s the Head Coach.
ND has better coordinators, a HC entering 3rd year with team against a coach in his first game with his team, and a better/deeper roster.
Playing on the road should not negate all those things.

ND should win. Period.

The better/deeper roster is debatable. They have been poorly coached but A&M is full of talent.

Agree other than the no matter how good the ol plays part. If the Ol plays well we’ll know it, if we can’t run the ball and Leonard is running for his life then Rudolph needs a ton of criticism. But yes ultimately freeman did an amazing job setting this team up and imo only freeman can really hold it back. I don’t think he will and I think we win.

Yeah I was super happy after winning but also realized we played like crap… thought it would be a wake up call, instead it was a sign of things to come with a poorly coached team during that stretch

i honestly have no idea what to expect with our O. Weigman isn't going to make any difference if he doesn't have time to throw or his receivers don't get open. I don't think we'll have that great a running attack. If he does have time to throw, he's very good in his decision making- when to get rid of the ball, when to tuck it, which receiver to throw to, and where to place it. He has a strong enough arm and very accurate, but we have so many question marks.

I hear a lot of really good things about OC Klein from Kansas St., but they were a QB run first offense last year- I know THAT won't be our game plan. I'm hoping our D will be good enough to keep us in the game while we figure something out against your D.

Ditto and maybe you guys could muff a punt or two? Maybe have some inexplicable penalties as holdovers from Jimbo's fine stewardship? We are driving a long way just to play at your house, the least you could do is reciprocate.

If you're talking about being at home or on a neutral site, then yes. Never underestimate how well teams tend to raise their level of play when ND comes to town. If the team can weather the first 10 minutes, then we should see a W.

I don’t care about HS rankings once kids have played.
Bad coaching is one thing, but these kids just aren’t as good as their rankings.
And ND’s are better.
National Defensive player of the year was a 3 Star WR.
All American CB was an unranked low 4 Star.
All American DT was an unranked low 4 Star.
QB was a basketball recruit.

ND is deeper & better all over the field.

Most people think this ND team is more talented than the 2018 team & has better coordinators.
The 2018 ND team went in a ranked VT at night, national TV, raucous environment, & blew VT out 45-23.
You can control the environment with your play. A 95 yard ND TD run shut that crowd up for good.

An opening drive Td by ND set the tone IMO for the night

The last 2 years our opening drives vs teams with a pulse have been terrible.

Probably just the sharps loading up on Aggies. They could have, however; have some inside scoop other than ND’s OL issues. Is Cross truly healthy to be a full go? What about Evans? The sharps move the line…not the betting public (not saying you were insinuating otherwise).

I know. We're always everyone's Super Bowl. Teams don't get up for Alabama nor Georgia--they never have to deal with hostile crowds.

Oh poor poor Marcus, it's not even his fault if we lose. It's those pesky crowds at road games--they like cheer against us and stuff and make loud noises when we're on offense.

I mean how's MFMF supposed to overcome that even with superior talent and coordinators?

Plus it's like only his third year. No ND coach has ever won or played for a national championship in their third year.

It's an insurmountable task to expect a coach to go on the road in the first game of his third year and win. People need to temper their expectations a bit.

It's not like we all used to sit around and harp on Kelly nonstop for losing these types of games.

It's just not fair!

I guess it’s all who people mean when they say “Vegas”. Are they talking about the book makers or the bettors. I get it’s a small amount of heroes that actually impact the lines but even the “sharps” are wrong a lot of time like upwards of 45% of the time if not more. That’s why they spread their bets across multiple games trying to hedge their losses. Thats why I don’t get the term Vegas has them at such and such line when again it’s just the bookmakers trying to get bets on both sides of the line whether it be the sharps or the general public. Just betting against Vegas. Who is Vegas that you are betting against and which side of the line is Vegas on ao one don’t bet against them. I just have never understood what people mean by that. It doesn’t make sense to me.
