• O’Malley: “There was some good: 10 gains of 10+ yards, four 3rd-down conversions, and a respectable six Drive MVP awards. But light years away from all projections and our collective delusions of pre-season grandeur. It’s difficult to measure the bad among the fine statistics, but the incessant drops and average depth of target (half of that of Jayden Thomas, Braden Lenzy) hurt the offense. That’s on the field.”
• Prister: “Incredible to imagine now that we had him as our No. 9-rated player in the pre-season. Had five of Notre Dame’s 10 drops. Of his 50 targets, 33 came within the first five games, including 11 vs. Marshall. There’s still a productive football player there but he needed the end of the season to reboot. He needs to definitively decide which direction he wants to go, including whose roster he wants to be on in ’23.”
This in II's postseason player countdown re Styles. Also comes a couple days after Prister said he's not convinced Styles will be on the 2023 roster in a different thread. The comment about 'on the field' from Omalley read to me as though he was not a locker room asset this year.
