I would say winning a Championship at Notre Dame is the ultimate level of success, and as with anything there are varying levels of success. I personally don't think it will take a Championship for Kelly's time at ND to be considered a success. Also, if we are being honest, Kelly has won championships before, just not at ND. He has also won numerous playoff games(also not at ND). The dude hasn't been unsuccessful at any stop he has had, which is admirable IMO. This profession eats coaches alive on a yearly basis, and there are a small minority that are successful, with an even smaller percentage reaching the pinnacle of winning a Championship. I hope with everything in me he gets a Championship because IMO HE DESERVES IT, and will have earned it.

Even if they lose out, it would seem unlikely. They just got done with 24 million in payouts to Herman and his assistants. They would have about another 40 million to Sark and his assistants if they let him go.

Kelly is a success now, but sadly it just may not be in the cards for ND to win it all anymore. We would have to pull out all the stops from an athlete standpoint, and even then it's a tall order to get 5 stars to come to South Bend. Kelly has made ND relevant again, that's pretty commendable after decades of mediocrity.

We aren't the only ones laughing at Texas right now. Cant be stated enough: a winning culture is so important in college, more so than other sports. If you lose in the pros, you can draft higher the worse you perform. In high school, you get what you create (summer programs, elementary programs, etc). In college, showing kids that they will shine in the classroom and on the field, is crucial, and the only way to continued success.
