next update will be “ND bows out of Bowen sweepstakes,” regardless if if it was NDs choice or Bowen’s.

I’m fine either way tbh. More important here is the clear lack of guidance for Bowen. If he is truly this conflicted to the point of making an impulsive last second decision to back out on a pledge he made 11 months prior then he needs to be guided better by both parents. If this is a money grab I would argue all parties need to some guidance but that’s a difference of opinions on goals. It is one of a parents’ main job to impart values and beliefs to guide their child’s decisions to become a better adult. If, as is implied, he made a poor choice in the most important moment of his young life then I’d argue there’s a failure in this job.
They’re behind on Woodyard for ‘24. As good as Corner recruiting has been, Safety isn’t that great.
It’s time to get Hamilton to lay down the dough.

Why is your tone always that of an 85 year old with jock itch?

We are #9, fantastic. But why did we miss out on Keely and Bowen… and probably a few others? I never said “all”, I said “a lot”. I’m sure there are recruits that never gave us a look because of the NIL. We will get “a lot” but we will miss out on “a lot” as well.
You get spoken to that way because it's the way you should be spoken to.

#9 is ahead of many NIL programs. Losing three recruits to NIL is a bummer, but do not say ND lost a lot of recruits to NIL. Under Kelly we likely lose Ausberry to the SEC, Love likely doesn't get to realize he's an ND kid, how about those WR's - yeah they don't come to ND. MF is making significant improvements in recruiting, it's looking up for ND and you filling your diaper doesn't change the fact that ND signed a damn good class and will do it again in 2024.

Loy just said Bowen spoke with ND after and told them he wants to go to South Bend...an hour after that he told OK he wants to be there....

He is not remorseful. He is still lying.

If I was his parent, I would make him have a signing ceremony where he spends more time apologizing to the schools and coaches he disrespected than discussing the one he finally picked.

TTT I would just rather him not mention ND ever again. To many parents are trying to be their kid’s friends instead raising them.

We have embarrassed our parents in some way or another but I highly doubt any of us were that disrespectful.

At what point does freeman take on Kelly’s approach to recruiting? He wasted a lot of time on Bowen. Just target the right guys.

I think he will continue on recruiting the same kids that he thought met ND’s and his standards. But he will improve his process to know when things change.

#9 is #9. If this is a historically great class and #9 is our prize I think that just means the top is getting more top heavy and really nothing has changed at the top. We are just creating more separation from the bottom and middle. Congrats to ND for now getting players that will beat Marshall and Stanford. But as fans of the football team and being stuck in that 5 to 20 ranking range some of us want better. We HAD a class that was building up to do that. Keeley, Bowen, even someone like Edwards that could flip field position with a single touch increases those odds and increases NDs floor and ceiling. I apologize if I’m not a guy that loses and celebrates that I can still wake up in the morning. If you would have told any ND fan that follows recruiting 6 months ago that ND would finish 9th in the recruiting rankings they would have laughed at you. The expectations were higher and we got more of the same. Yay!!

So, just trying to get caught up. After not signing with Oregon, he told both ND and Oklahoma that he was going to sign with them. Yet still didn't sign with either?

I would really like to see one of the NIL contracts these kids sign. If I was any collective paying a student athlete up front, I’d surely implement a qualifier that the individual would have to reimburse the collective a percentage of the amount paid if they didn’t complete a certain number of years at the university.

I don’t know that performance-based qualifiers are appropriate, but you can’t generate any ROI if the kid bolts with your money in his pocket.

Correct, although him signing with Oklahoma is the latest trend. ND has stopped communicating with him according to Loy.

Of course not. Back then, If you talked back to mommy or daddy you got the belt. Today you touch your kid you go to jail.
Kids know what they can get away with.

At least his mom seemed visibly embarrassed. We’ve seen this same story before with kids while their parents and family are gathered around whooping it up. She knew what he did was wrong and I’m sure had talked to him about doing things the right way, some kids just won’t listen.
one angle she did, but i saw a longer head on version where she seemed more ok toward the end. Maybe i am off, but the first one made it look like she was more po'd.

They were 46 points off #1 in 2023, 58 in 2022, 56 in 2021, 62 in 2020. The BCR ratio has also steadily improved.

There was a marketable improvement in talent acquired in 2023. They did not have a QB for the majority of the class. They have one in 2024.

The first full year of MF we saw a 12 point improvement in the talent level. With a QB actively recruiting for the 24 class we should see another improved class.

You're also not the guy that can take a step back and look at the incredible improvement that MF has done in recruiting. NIL became a factor and he still improved the talent at ND. This is after an 8-4 season. You can be miserable and cry about the misses, but you can not deny that MF has been a significant improvement on Kelly in recruiting.
