Notre Dame has always had a red line where they were willing to get out of the game, but the line moves and only a few people actually know where it is. Freshman year Econ seminar featured a 2 week debate about the value of the football program to the university, with the point being to make it clear that there is more money in being like Harvard than in being like IMG.

ND has increased commitment to Football, probably in no small part because the $ equation changed a bit too, but there is still a red line. Harvard/Yale/Army/Navy; they used to be among the big dogs of College Football. There is a world where ND takes that path, but I don’t think it’s the current world… Employment ruling though…

Assuming "being like Harvard" means being one of the world's leading research universities - the admin clearly has 0 interest in that. No Nobel Laureates on the faculty.

We just need to lean into being the unique package we are - one of the best liberal arts and business educations in America, and the only place that combines that with genuine Big Time Football

Hope at the very least she’s telling him she won’t sign until he calls Freeman and at least gives him that courtesy after the fact.

As an OU fan that would be hilarious. Would much rather ND get him over Oregon
ND and Oklahoma recruited this guy so hard. Neither getting him after all those visits to Oregons like one visit means that huge NIL rumor might've been true all along.

Coach Prime probably came in with a very late offer and now he is negotiating back at Oregon

Sorry, meant to post this in the other thread for state of the recruiting class. But bottom line we will be ok either way. We are not going to be Harvard or Alabama/Oregon/TAMU but all you need is to hit on that QB with solid recruiting everywhere else. With the playoff expanding it is about what good team gets hot for 3-4 games.

Another thing to put into perspective with the 2013 class.

Kelly had the luxury of having one of the top recruits in the nation, Jaylon Smith, literally in ND's backyard and who was basically locked into come to ND.

This was also on the cusp of a national championship appearance.

Ehhh
Jaylon seriously considered USC from what I remember, it required a good amount of effort.
But yes, Kelly had a head start with a catholic school FW prodigy
