At some point the music stops and recruits have to wise up, right? As the number of players who chased up front cash and got burned grows, there will be exposes and articles written about it that we can point to as cautionary tales. "Everyone who plays for ND and shows out not only gets an Ivy-class education and elite development, but they all get paid top-tier NIL which is legal and verifiable. You don't want to end up like 5-star John Doe from the Class of 2020, do you? He bought into the lies about P4P, and he's now at his 3rd school in 4 years."
I would assume this is already part of ND's spiel. They just need the verified data to back it up. It's still early, but are there any high profile cases of recruits not getting what was promised that have documentation and have called out, by name, the booster/school involved?

Fong went on Oklahoma and Oregon board to say it'll be 1 of them 2 for PB. Did not say anything on NDs page.
When I said early yesterday that I was pretty confident that he wasn’t 100% “done deal” to Oklahoma it was because of an Oregon person who said there had been “active negotiation” with them recently.

Never expected Driskell to be like “Oregon offered $2mil and Oklahoma is matching!” and I have no idea if that’s accurate or not. But at minimum he’s using Oregon as a leverage play to extract value from Oklahoma.

Based off of what? Is it because he has insider info from the Bowen camp, or is it because wild $$$ figures are being thrown around and he is assuming they will take the money and run?

One would be fact

The other is speculation

College football is the most worthy of charities in the south.
It’s playing hell on my bookkeeping. At one time my ledger read entertainment expense. Moved to charitable donation to which I damn sure didn’t claim on taxes. I finally gave up and just started putting cash donation under the made up names for players based on fictional characters like “The Dude” and “Bobby Boucher. “

I know this is what was reported, but I just can't buy it. $4.2 million+ over 3 years. This is more than what a fourth round rookie makes.
Well for me things that are not clear at all are the following:
  1. Are these deals over the table and reportable ( ie taxable) and what is actually reaching them under the table that goes un reported just like it always was in the past? Ie $150k magically appears in your backpack at school or in your bedroom at home.
  2. Are these reported offers actually paid out? Havent heard of anyone actually confirming what they get publically but there sure as shit are a lot of people transferring immediately (Ewers, numerous people at TAM). Are these guys taking up front money and running or not getting what they wre promised or jealous of others on the tema getting more?
  3. how is any of this not actually P4P no matter third party or not. If these kids have packages in hand heading into signing day how is that NOT enticing them to play that specific school that is offering that specific package before signing.

So the girlfriend and proximity to home stuff is all bullshit right? To make it seem like he's not in it for the money?
If I had to bet he's just using Oregon to get the most money from OU. So, I guess if that means it all comes down to money then maybe. But, I don't think he has any intention of not going to OU. He just needs another party to run up the price and ND doesn't play that game so he had to find someone else.

I will literally be rooting to every RB, TE, or WR to truck stick this kid for the rest of his football days.

Lol what a mess. If that happens, flip my 90/10 NIL to 10/90.

Wonder what the girlfriend thinks of the possible commitment issues lol. He can’t even pull the trigger to OU now?

I don't really buy that these numbers like 2M are legit, though I think they're probably very large numbers still. But, I think these are like full earnings numbers. Like Keeley's is 800k/year so that's 2.4M over 3 or 3.2M over 4. Could Bowen get 500k/year from Oregon, for a total of 2M. Wouldn't be all that surprising when we consider that Hamilton made 7 figures in his first year of NIL.

A big thing that sucks is this is now the 3rd time Irish fans have been very misinformed in the calendar year: Walker, Moore, Bowen.

Either the staff is Hellen Keller when reading recruitments, or premium sites withhold information to paying customers.

Isn't this based on the assumption that this is only happening at ND? If so, that's just completely incorrect.

That would make more sense but a weird way to report it since is he gonna be there for 3? Is it for 4? 2 up front and then nothing? But I guess it was Driskell so just a random number with no context makes sense

If it's getting invested like a foundation, then $30m in principal is only producing $1.5-2 million per year max, which isn't enough to finance even one of these alleged top-shelf P4P deals. So for that $30m "war chest" to mean anything, you've got to have boosters on board with donating that every year just for the purpose of buying recruits. If true, that's batshit insane. Even the most established and deserving charities struggle to raise $30m/ year for worthy causes.
Pay $200 for a couple of tickets to watch your favorite team or donate it to charity. lol

It is batshit crazy. I still expect some leveling out of this in 2-3 years after boosters get tired of not getting the expected results.

Okay guys, I have a stroke of genius. Each of you set up a collection pot at your grocery next to the Salvation Army. We'll have our own IE NIL fund and we can pay who we want.

I've been saving my change for years. Classic 5L glass jug, nearly brimmed to the top with mostly quarters, nickels & dimes.

It's about time I put it to good use.

I hope a certain ND player will appreciate the $160-$175.
