Seems unlikely that Pratt would beat Card to the punch though with his bowl game being not being until Jan. 2nd.Pratt from Tulane
Posted in the Transfer Time thread, but this is absolutely incredible.
Gotta think some SEC team is going to give him millions.
It’s fake. Was posted this AM in the other thread.

No, I think Card is the top priority. I think there are a lot of other guys that they like but no one that they’d take before they know if they’re getting Card.Do you think anyone is legitimately on the board besides Card? As in someone could beat him to the punch and staff would take it?
Ship has sailedHypothetically, if we were to strike out on QB's from other teams in the portal and Drew Pyne is still without a home, do we think he'd come back?
We will get someone. We’re not going to completely strike out (just as we didn’t in ‘23 QB recruiting).Hypothetically, if we were to strike out on QB's from other teams in the portal and Drew Pyne is still without a home, do we think he'd come back?
Oh, I agree. I was just wondering if worst case scenario Pyne would be interested in coming back should he still be without a home.We will get someone. We’re not going to completely strike out (just as we didn’t in ‘23 QB recruiting).
The question is how far down the list do you go before you reach the guys where you’d rather have Pyne? Slovis? Spencer Samuels?
I'm just wondering if worst comes to worst if he could be brought back since he would almost certainly be the best available at that point and we need bodies given Buchner's injury history and Minchey coming off an injury as well.you are concerned if the guy who's spot on the roster equates to your firing of the OC has a spot to come back?
but you want to make sure we could take back the qb who created those rankings?I'm just wondering if worst comes to worst if he could be brought back since he would almost certainly be the best available at that point and we need bodies given Buchner's injury history and Minchey coming off an injury as well.
Regarding Rees, my thoughts on him are well-known. 74th in total offense and 52nd in scoring offense shouldn't cut it at a program like ND.
I don't think this is likely but if we're talking worst case scenarios. I think the worst case scenario should be, we do a full reset with Minchey as your starter. That, at the very least, provides a young QB with upside some game film/reps for the future. In no way shape or form do I want to see another 8-4 season in which no progress was made at QB.I'm just wondering if worst comes to worst if he could be brought back since he would almost certainly be the best available at that point and we need bodies given Buchner's injury history and Minchey coming off an injury as well.

Especially when you have a height challenged QB throwing behind the sequoias.I'm just wondering if worst comes to worst if he could be brought back since he would almost certainly be the best available at that point and we need bodies given Buchner's injury history and Minchey coming off an injury as well.

If he's the best available, yes. Both things can be true. Rees isn't a great evaluator and isn't all that special as a play-caller, and Pyne could be the best available of all QB's in the portal. If we strike out, and I doubt we will, and Pyne is still without a home and is the best available QB, should we not try to bring him back? Can you imagine if Buchner gets injured again?but you want to make sure we could take back the qb who created those rankings?

Yes, I can imagine that. At which point you play for the future. Pyne does nothing but keep you at mediocrity. If he's the best available, yes. Both things can be true. No offense to the kid, but I hope we never see another QB like Pyne at ND again.Yes, I can imagine that. At which point you play for the future. Pyne does nothing but keep you at mediocrity.
Did I bring him up?Does the forced Rees stuff never tire you?
you just said his results dont cut it though. Wouldn't we be better off seeing what we have with the other QBs already in the building? If he's the best available, yes. Both things can be true. Absolutely, and he should be gone at season's end.you just said his results dont cut it though. Wouldn't we be better off seeing what we have with the other QBs already in the building?
me thinks thou doth protest too muchAbsolutely, and he should be gone at season's end.
The problem, outside of evaluations, with respect to the current (including Minchey) QB room is that Minchey and Buchner are both coming off of injury. I'd bring in the best possible body to compete. That's 50% of the QB room, and that's not including RP3 who couldn't play dead in a Western.
Ultimately, this is going to be moot as I expect them to land a quality grad transfer who will start next year.
