No offense to the kid, but I hope we never see another QB like Pyne at ND again.

QBs like Pyne conjure the same same feelings I felt about Coach Kelly the last few years; he can win you the games against teams of lesser talent at a high clip. He can win you none of the games against equal or better talent, ever.
This is actually the wrong year to claim that considering losses against Marshall and Stanford and a win against Clemson lol

Delete if I’m neg recruiting but what makes ND one of the most desirable destinations for a transfer QB? Our best receiving guy (Mayer) is gone and we have a bunch of unproven WRs.

One of the best OLs in the country and a stable of very talented RBs means at the very least, there should be lots of easy deep throws off play action.

Highest level of media exposure.

And those unproven WRs are a highly rated bunch. For an experienced gun-slinger looking to audition for the NFL, there are very few schools with a more attractive roster than ours.

And a coaching staff that went 8-4 with a 5’9’’ unathletic QB.

Adding to what Whiskey said:

Top OL, top RB room which greatly decreases the pressure on a QB to "carry the team". Plenty of talent in the TE/WR room albeit with some young, unproven guys and a really strong defense that should limit points in most games.

Also a national stage every week and at least a few primetime games for them to showcase their talent. And winning culture, albeit with a minor blip in 2022 but 4 - 10+ win seasons prior.

And a hell of a head coach and staff that can sell the program and some graduate programs that are hard to rival.

There are definitely some concerns if you're a transfer QB, but on the plus side you'll have a good backfield, quality OL, young and talented WR's, and a program that is TE-U.

And the biggest upside of all - the QB(s) and coach this brings ND back to national titles will be instant legends. A fair amount of champions and such get forgotten (I honestly can’t rattle off the last 20 qbs that won a natty), but the next Notre Dame QB that does will be a household name, you can believe that. There’s a different cachet that will have that you won’t get anywhere else. They won’t be Aflac trivia questions.

Not after he acted like a spoiled bitch and left this team high and dry.

I don't think he acted like a spoiled bitch at all. He was basically told he would not start next season. Why would he then play in a meaningless bowl game? At some point, one has to look after himself. He would be disadvantaged if he waited until after the bowl game to enter his name in the portal. He gave his best to Notre Dame football and I wish him the best wherever he lands.

Theres like 25-30 dudes ahead of him in the pecking order i would say. A lot of dominos to fall IMO, he would be better off graduating in the spring from ND and then hoping a few teams are desperate then

He's out. Won't elaborate too much but ND passed here for legitimate reasons.
I'm not sure where you got that from. I subscribe to several sites and never heard that ND passed on him. Tom Loy said he is one of the two already in the portal that ND is interested in, the other being Card. He also mentioned a QB not yet in the portal (I presume it's Pratt). It would be interesting if you could elaborate. Thanks.

No. He was told we were going to pursue a transfer quarterback and he was welcome to stay and compete. He felt he was above it so he took his ball and left. Hence spoiled bitch. But if that's too harsh and he genuinely believes he earned the right to be QB1 next season, perhaps delusional bitch is more appropriate?

On the Irish Illustrated pod they were saying they were surprised he didn't graduate first (like all of us were as well). But with that in mind, they said they wouldn't be surprised if Pyne goes Ivy League. Brown was mentioned. If that is the plan, it make more sense.

It makes no sense at all if the plan is to go to like Western Kentucky to compete for the starter job and then end up with a Western Kentucky degree.

You're on a message board calling someone a bitch who will accomplish more taking a shit in the morning than you will in your entire life. There is only 1 bitch here and that is you sir.

That's his decision to make, whether it makes sense to us or not. But calling him a "spoiled bitch" is ridiculous. It's a tale as old as time and can even apply to the "real world:"

you wait for your shot at your job, finally get it, work your tail off even if some of the results were clunky along the way, and then you get passed up for the promotion you've been working so hard for, and they're looking to hire a replacement to boot.

So, you move on. Time to send out that resume.

Doesn't make him a "spoiled bitch." It just means he wants a shot to compete for a starting role and we all know it isn't going to be here.

I wonder what they're basing their odds off of, there's no intel in that "article."

Just assuming that he'll elect to stay close to home with Duggan moving on to the NFL? Or is there any legitimate developments with TCU?

I assume we'll know more when he starts to line up the visits.

Again, pretty harsh words for a guy that played his heart out for Notre Dame, got chewed out by his coach on national TV, and became Notre Dame's whipping boy. Put yourself in his place. The guy just wants to transfer to get a better chance to play elsewhere and maybe start. Nothing wrong with that. He declared for the portal on the first day, like many hundreds of others. Nothing wrong with that either. And besides, I am not too sure that ND would want him to start if they knew for sure that he was transferring. Both parties did the right thing by being upfront and honest with each other. So, calling him a bitch is wrong and unwarranted, IMHO.

Was nervous it would cite college football sources but instead it was betting odds, thankfully. Do we think Duggan goes to the NFL? Because of the COVID year, he has another year of eligibility

Some people are just too damn miserable to reason with.

This is the much more sensible way to look at the situation, kudos to you.
