This has been talked enough in Buchner's, Pyne's, Tommy's, and other thread that is deserves its own IMO. Imperative ND gets one regardless of what CJ does.

Some names that could be realistic fits

Cade McNamara. Yuck. I hope not. But it seems obvious.
Garrett Shrader, Syracuse. Grad transfer option. So far is 38-48, 523 yards, 5 TDs
Devin Leary, NC State. Guy is a stud but may be NFL bound
Graham Mertz, Wisconsin
Tanner McKee, Stanford

Doesn't really matter if he is or isn't IMO. Maybe he's not injury prone, but he hasn't proven he can stay healthy. You're effectively left with the same QB room as this year if you don't take a transfer. CJ Carr isn't an option even if he reclassifies, at least to start the year.

He EE’d but I think this is only his second season/fourth semester on campus. He missed 2020 high school ball bc California COVID rules remember? Unlikely he’s ready to graduate just yet.

I agree we should bring someone in but the general tenor of all these threads today is that Buchner’s ND career is over like a horse that broke his leg, and I guess I wouldn’t give up on him just yet is all. He seems like a tough smart kid, and a competitor.

Look at his career. He last started a game in HS when was 16? He then comes to ND and starts 2 games and blows. He will be what? 20 years old before he gets his next start? Maybe 21? It’s one thing to have a skill set but it’s another to actually have experience playing football. This guy is toast.

Not really seeing the package there. Until he got hurt it was trending towards Duggan being benched for Morris because he’s a better fit for that offense.
