But he has moxyAgreed. The ideal ND prototype is 5'11.5", so so arm, mediocre field vision, and can run a little bit.

And can take a good bit of verbal abuse!Agreed. The ideal ND prototype is 5'11.5", so so arm, mediocre field vision, and can run a little bit.
I assume this is regarding class of 2023 QB's?![]()
"Some have a ND offer, some don’t. I’m also expecting an offer or two to go out after this week of evaluations."
Regarding who the staff is seeing/has seen this week
Probably Minchy and Johnson.![]()

I think it's safe to say that next year's starting QB isn't on the current roster. Hopefully some more quality QB's hit the portal so our new OC, whoever that may be, can work wonders with him next season.
Exactly. And people need to not be so picky if our QB next year is Cade McNamara. If people think Pyne or Buchner could be the QB on a CFP team then I have some ocean front property in Nebraska to sell them.If we have any hope of being competitive next year, we need to hit the open market very hard with the selling point that you are our guy to start and we want you to win the job. Then if Buchner miraculously beats out a seasoned QB who can actual throw the ball just live with the results there, but I don't think he does if we bring in an actual QB transfer that can accurately throw the ball downfield.
Its perfectly defensible to believe Buchner could. He has very good tools. He could also be horrible. We don't have anything resembling a sample size.Exactly. Same can be said for McNamara.Exactly. And people need to not be so picky if our QB next year is Cade McNamara. If people think Pyne or Buchner could be the QB on a CFP team then I have some ocean front property in Nebraska to sell them.
To be fair Rees did not ask Pyne to be much of a playmaker until Stanford forced him to by loading the box and doubling Mayer. And Pyne had great numbers through three games.Same can be said for McNamara.
He was essentially what Pyne is for us. A solid QB so long as we can run the ball and design the offense around it. He's not a guy to center an offense around. Rees needed to continue to use Pyne as a game-manager and not a playmaker. He put the game in Pyne's hands early and it burned them. If ND goes after McNamara, it's going to be the same.
McNamara is by no means a great QB, but he's better than Pyne. He's not #1 on my list of grad transfer QB's but I'd take him if he's the best we can get. Hudson Card is still my #1.Same can be said for McNamara.

There aren't any freshmen taking the world by storm for lesser P5 or G5 teams this year, so the transfer market is going to boil down to an incumbent that gets shown the door for a younger guy, or a junior/senior that will be able to graduate early and grad transfer to ND.
List of juniors playing well that you might be able to steal if you get the recruiting pitch right:
- Jalon Daniels - Kansas
- Garrett Shrader - Syracuse
I can't think of any obvious incumbents that might get shown the door or see the writing on the wall once the season ends, but I'm sure there will be 4 or 5 unexpected semi-high-profile names we aren't aware of that will test the waters.
Who knows, maybe Babers finally gets hired away.I thought Schrader could be a transfer QB we should target, but since Syracuse is kicking ass and Dino Babers job looks to be safe for the next couple of years, it would be a very interesting decision to transfer on his part.
What makes anyone think that ND, a school that doesn't play the same NIL game the majority of CFB plays, is going to get a difference maker whose beggar than Buchner next season?

That's the point. There's zero chance that Michigan would allow Stanford's garbage defense to dictate how they play.To be fair Rees did not ask Pyne to be much of a playmaker until Stanford forced him to by loading the box and doubling Mayer. And Pyne had great numbers through three games.
But…
I know this, you know this. Problem is the elite players want theirs up front. They don't want to wait.I know they don’t play the upfront NIL game, but I have to think a grad transfer with a decent following could have some good opportunities at ND for NIL, no? I really don’t know how their NIL approach to transfers compares to how they approach freshman.
