"I plead the 5th"What were we expecting Arnold to tell Drumm?
"I plead the 5th"
I get that, but he could also just ghost them kind of like Keeley and Bowen have to the ND mediaWhat were we expecting Arnold to tell Drumm?
The criticism for the Moore situation is that Tommy and the staff apparently were strung along for months. If a kid says he’s a “silent commit” and refuses or is reluctant to commit for the next 3+ months then it’s probably not a good idea to put all of your eggs into that basket. Tom Lemming basically said they were in good/decent position with Arnold and Vizzina but they had their eggs in the Dante basket. IIRC, Vizzina even told him that ND wasn’t really talking to him. Can't force a kid to choose you. They did everything in their power to land the kid. At the end of the day ND admin isn't going to pay kids like other programs. Pretty hard to fault the coaches when those factors are completely out of their control.
Be a lot easier to take the argument for Rees seriously if his defenders stopped trying to dress up a recruiting loss as a win.
Yep. Arnold committed to OU way before the smoke started to rise about Moore being a silent commit. Lebby getting hired was the nail in the coffin there, which still doesn't make any sense to me. Dude was a good OC for a few years, but hardly a tiebreaker, and the fact that he was caught up in the Baylor mess only further questions why it was such a big deal. Not landing Moore is certainly not a win, but landing Carr is also not a loss, as this dialogue started.
No we’re wrapping Arnold into Moore silent stuff again, when the timelines are not synched at all.
I admit I'm a little disappointed that Carr isn't reclassifying but I'm glad they have some clarity on the situation.![]()

Won't leak too much, but they say Carr is staying in '24 and ND is has been in contact with a specific QB and are optimistic. Sounds like JA or AJ
If you're referring to what I posted on Arnold I'm simply going by what Tom Lemming said. Not landing Moore is certainly not a win, but landing Carr is also not a loss, as this dialogue started.

I think people don't realize how quickly QB dominoes fall. It's easy to say that they should move on from Moore after months of him stringing them along, but it wasn't the months that did the most damage. Arnold committed to OU which really put us down to two options in Vizzina and Moore for the level of QB the staff wanted. Moore pulls the trigger (albeit silently) and the staff takes him at his word because they have no reason not to. It's soon after this point that Vizzina commits to his other top school, Clemson. The criticism for the Moore situation is that Tommy and the staff apparently were strung along for months. What they should’ve done is told Dante that if he still wanted in they’d take him if he went public, but if Arnold, Vizzina, Johnson, or whoever wanted to publicly commit they’d have to honor that. Hopefully that’s a lesson learned for the staff, in particular Rees.
Probably my favorite video that "Oldie" did back in the early days. This game was so much fun to be at too. The Zibby highlights are the best, 2 defensive/ST TDs on the day and nearly had a 3rd! The last truly dangerous punt returner we had.

It is the weirdest narrative that refuses to die.Arnold committing to OU had nothing to do with Moore. This has been gone over at length by those in the know significantly more than Lemming and the prospect himself. When Arnold committed to OU, Rees and Vizzina still talked daily, again per the prospect himself.

the QB recruiting was much better before tommy reese became the QB coach.I choose to believe Tommy sucks at evaluating QBs and that Panchero's is better then Chipotle
Well Pyne is going to be their starter so I understand bringing in ReesI like that tweet. It's early, let's see how the season plays out. But if he continues to play well, Tommy can now go to QB recruits and sell. Assuming he's not the OC the Rams next year...

Lol.

Pre-Rees average ranking was 210th. Rees era average ranking is 213th. Interesting that the only Pre-Rees QBs to finish their career at ND are Kizer and Book. Likely similar outlook for the Rees era QBs. At worst, Rees' QB recruiting is a continuation of the Kelly era.
Correct, Brendon Clark was not the 521st-ranked quarterback in his class. Even Tommy Rees can recruit better than that. Those are overall player rankings, not position ranking correct?
It's not just QB. Right now, even with our vaunted class, we have one commit ranked in the top 40 on the 247 Composite, and it's Bowen who half this board figures is gone. Jagusah's 43rd. We're not adding any more either, barring a miracle from Arnold or Keeley. It’s crazy to see how hard it’s become for ND to get a top 25 qb,…

Maybe Notre Dame‘s play should be recruiting Venables to defensive coordinator and then Arnold might just come to follow Venables. 75% joking but if Venables is available I would shop down that isle.Don't see how Arnold could be rock solid to OU at this point. The most likely scenarios are:
1) Venables is a garbage head coach and they give him 3 years to stay garbage
2) Venables is a garbage head coach and they fire him during or after next year
3) Venables is a full on dumpster fire, they go 4-8 and fire him here in 2 months
I agree, especially for the 23 class. We are bringing serious talent at Oline, wide receiver, running back, and tight end. I just don’t think it should be this difficult. It’s crazy to see how hard it’s become for ND to get a top 25 qb,…
