I thought the second episode was awesome too. Still very weird to me that Lord Corlys wanted his 12 year old daughter to marry the king but I guess that’s just what life was like back in those days. You could tell once Otto sent alicent to see King Vierys that his intentions were clearly to have alicent marry the king. I’m excited for the rest of series

Has anyone watched the Rings of Power? Maybe we should get a thread started on that. But let me just say, so far, an absolute snoozer. No bad, not good, just boring. Should pick up by the end of the season with some major events kicking off, but as a huge Tolkien fan, I don’t know if I’ll make it.

Watched the first two episodes, I thought it was pretty good. Nothing amazing so far but it gave me enough to stick around. My biggest beef with it is its way to clean looking. The original trilogy did well with making everything looking dirty and lived in

I just hate how they are going from movies to shows with all these great movies. I’ll probably watch it just to see how it is but I just don’t like that movies are turning to shows. I love the cinematic feeling when watching a movie compared to a show

Yea you only got the vibe with the human settlement a little bit, and that was really just the people looking raggedy.

But in the lore it makes some sense. This period between the fall of Morgoth and return of Sauron is the most peaceful Middle earth will be until the ring is destroyed. The Elvin kingdoms are still close to their heights and there is a Kingdom of men strong enough to directly challenge the gods.

Good on all of you who can watch these shows and enjoy it,… I just can’t anymore. It’s very rare any modern show grabs me anymore,… can’t quite explain why 😞

Honestly I’m with you, I rarely like new shows. And the recent ones I’ll commit to, are all tied to previous material I’ve been invested in: Thrones, Tolkien, Better Call Saul.

Better call Saul stuck the landing, I honestly might have enjoyed it as much as breaking bad
Still haven't seen the end of Better Call Saul but I've enjoyed it a lot more than BB.

HOTD is pretty good so far. Pretty confused by last night.

HOTD is already on par with the best of GoT. I’m stunned by how good it is. Crazy part is that this is all just set up so far. Imagine once things really get rolling?

I went from not being interested in this series and pretty over ASOIAF to counting the days till Sunday in like two weeks lol.

I disagree. HotD just doesn’t have the juice GoT did. The dialogue just feels so forced and there was a lot of gossip girl drama in the first few episodes. The last couple episodes have made up for the first half of the season, but man the first half hour or so have been tough to get through. The last 30 have been jam packed though, I’ll give them that. Another time jump next episode it looks like

Which parts?
So the heiress and her gay hubby are chatting about how they'll redevote themselves to one another or some shit.

Next thing ya know hubby is attacked by his old lover or whatever(?) and next thing ya know she's getting hitched with the creepy uncle?

Did you not see the end? The gay hubby wants to GTFO of his life so he’s escaping with his lover to Essos where their lifestyle is more accepted.
And Targs have a weird thing for incest.

How many seasons to they intend to do?

I thought I saw 3 but forget where. With how they’ve made jumping years work so well, I’d love if it continued all the way to Robert’s Rebellion. Not sure how far Fire and Blood goes or if it ends after the Civil War.

Laenor was talking about it but I think Rhaenyra knew it wasn’t possible. Even if they had a kid their true born is going to be 4th in line. That’s not going to stop the Greens from coming after them.

I thought it’s been very obvious they were setting up her and Daemon getting together. They needed Laenor out of the picture but Rhaenyra had some affection for him and isn’t purely evil so they helped him escape so he can go live his life in the free cities across the sea.

They have said 3 or 4 seasons.

Show is much less interesting than GoT
I sort of agree. It's good, but not as complex. GOT had multiple major storylines going at any given moment and several main characters, sort of like LOTR. HOTD has one main storyline and a few minor ones, and not nearly as many compelling, interesting main characters. It's still good, but it's The Dave Clark Five to GOT's Beatles.

I’m just over the perverse elements of it all,… it became too much for me. I think you have to be married to a white girl to enjoy this shit,…

My assumption has always been that GRRM used Targaryan incest storylines patterned from Egyptian royalties in the histories. I could be wrong and have never read anything with him being quoted as saying so.

Other than Aegon having a wank standing in his window HOTD hasn't been terribly perverse compared to some of the smut in GoT.

Haven't even seen much pearl clutching that the Velaryons are black. GoT fans maybe not as picky as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Little Mermaid.

I'm liking it so far. Was very nervous after the Many Saints of Newark debacle.

I am not fully caught up, but my initial thoughts are really positive. I don't agree that it is boring, but I always liked the slow GoT stuff best.

Only major complaint is that I was extremely disappointed in the wedding dinner party scene. It had all the worst trappings of bad GoT and has me really concerned that the writers are just going to ignore the universes rules when convenient again. How does a kingsguard just murder a knight in the middle of a dinner with no reprecussions? Who were the two dudes who came out of nowhere and PUNCHED the future Prince of Westeros in the face when he was trying to save Joffrey from being murdered? That scene was so stupid its causing me real fear that I'm about to get burned again.
