Isn’t ND his dream job? I just read something about it. You think we’d have a chance with him as OC if Rees leaves?
Urban ain't going anywhere to be an OC and I wouldn't want a version of Urban who would settle for that either. That would mean he is just in desperate need of cash.

I suspect Urban is a lot like many top recruits. The ones who we always finish in the top 3 but were never a realistic destination.

We *might* have been a realistic destination in 2004, but a lot of water under the bridge since then for both parties. No thanks.

Yeah sorry, was just kidding about Urban. He’s obviously not coming to ND to be OC.

I’m banning the next person that bumps this thread with the purpose of implying that ND should look at Urban Meyer.

Either you’re trolling for attention, or too stupid to be on this here website.

(Seriously though… fuck Urban Meyer. He’s a scumbag that isn’t worthy of stepping foot back on ND’s campus.)
Bruv, there is a very good chance it might be both in certain scenarios.

What you said in parentheses is spot on.

Urban is in a damage control mode right now and won't be coaching anywhere for at least a couple of years. But with his massive ego, who really knows.

I feel like any program that hires Urban should be put on immediate probation at this point. Just a total lack of ethics to even consider him.

Yeah, let's bring in Urban and Gruden to be co-head coaches.

Kinda funny how two of the "meme" coaches that every program wanted several years ago are both pretty much untouchable now. I guess never say never because winning allows some people to overlook a lot of things, but both are about as poison as you can get in the world of coaching right now.

If they aren't on probation when he's hired...they will be

1. He has multiple Nattys at two different schools and did great at Utah. He has won everywhere he has been in the College Ranks.
2. He is a practicing Roman Catholic......⛪⛪⛪

We all know if one day he was hired as Head coach at Notre dame everyone would be ecstatic let’s be real.

Would rather go 10-2 or 9-3 with Freeman than 12-0 or 11-1 with Urban. Then again, I think Freeman can run the table if the recruiting classes hold.

I love your enthusiasm but a Tup 5 Class is not a Top 1 or 2 class. We won’t be running the table next year. One step at a time.

8 winds this year including ,using a bowl win and a top 10 recruiting class. 8 wins min next year and no embarrassing losses or beat downs. Another top 10 recruiting class with momentum or bring Urban back to ND for his dream job. If Joe can sell out to be president why can’t we for a national championship? Would be the best thing for college football for ND to be in top again.

Make ND Great Again!

2024 is probably the ideal situation where our current Sophomores are Seniors (Those that aren't drafted) and we've got a couple classes with depth behind. Ideally Carr reclassifies as 2023 so he gets a year to get some reps. I thought '23 or '24 would be much better shots than '22 in any case, there were just too many holes at skill positions. Besides, year 3 seems to be when good Irish coaches get to the big dance.

Thought for a little bit last night that Urban might be heading to A&M next season but...

That’s a possible decent projection. My two concerns: how does MF settle in as HC. I hope he gets decisive. He seems unnerved on the sidelines.

The second issue is NIL and Top 50 recruits. We need to get the best and most will be attracted by early money.

Sadly I don't think ND will ever really get into the NIL game on their own, not like these other schools have. We'll have to rely on outside groups putting things together like IPC.

I want to win a championship…if Urban can do that I’d welcome him with open arms. Sorry not sorry 🤷‍♂️
That would be pretty tight to celebrate a Natty for a few years... until it's vacated. And then to relive the on the field, but mostly off the field drama, in a Netflix mini series narrated by Vince Vaughn.

I guess in 2022 it shouldn't surprise me that not only are there ND fans who want this scumbag to be coach but actually think there is still a chance it could happen.

It was never his dream job and he never had any intention of ever coming to Notre Dame. Nearly 20 years later people, even a micro minority, still can't move on about it.

I'd be curious to see him coach again in this current environment of NIL and The Portal. Considering how he left his last two jobs and the circumstances thereabout, I think you'd have to be beyond desperate to hire him.

The guy would develop chest pains the first time he looked at a university's pre-existing NIL handbook. Wouldn't have even coached a down of on-field football yet and he'd be looking to get out.

I also want to win a championship; I don't think Urban could do it here at ND and he isn't the answer. Remember him tripping on the sidelines when OSU played Purdue? He would be tripping on the sidelines at ND.

It's even hard for me to watch Urban on Fox.
