Yeah shutting down the Political/Trump thread is probably for the best especially for radical Republicans and trump's delusional klan. Zero hope for that tribe to get out of their zeitgeist. Somehow I always get sucked back in that thread and it just eats my soul away.
It takes two to tango. There's plenty of crazy on both sides, my guy.

I'd be fine if the Political threads were in a hidden forum, and one that moderators have to grant access to. That way people that don't want to see that stuff don't have to. I'd be perfectly fine with the Politics going completely away as well. It's fun debating, but there's been too many ban casualties over the years because some people can't hold back.

The main issue is honestly power dynamics. This site is overwhelmingly conservative and the mod team is like 5-2 conservative with me being one of the two libtards. But with the exception of Whisky, none of the other conservative mods really venture into politics much. When Cack posts something it’s different than when another user posts it because of the implication. People feel attacked or that there is unfairness but if I’m going to level with you guys most of the time his stuff is a LOT more mild than what others are saying.

This is a Notre Dame site with a side of non-ND stuff. This is not a politics site with a side of Notre Dame. We’re not going to make a snap judgment call on how to proceed here so we’re just going to pause it until we have time to discuss what is the best path forward.

An opt-in politics forum is a good idea.

I can respect that decision. As someone mentioned above, I just hope that that there is little to no tolerance for politics bleeding into other threads, which I already know that you guys will be all over.

Another solution is that you can ignore threads and forums if you don’t want to go. You have the personal freedom to not engage. If you want to know how to do this then ask one of the staff. I mean if you know you about to step in shit……

No one is obliged to post in those threads. No one. Grow up and relax.
The solution is for Jake to get off the fucking sauce. I’m better than this and my sincere apology to those offended.

Easier said than done my friends.

Go Irish.

I'm going on record and saying that the only person I'd ever start a civil war for is Burt Reynolds but he's been dead for four years so I don't think I'm going to be an issue in that regard.

Of course he gets nominated for Boogie Nights the same year Robin Williams is up for Good Will Hunting. Unfair!

No it really hasnt. Its the same as it ever was. People get their feelings hurt and dont know what to do about it so insults get hurled and people need to just relax.
Wasn't it just because of the recent pushback? No doubt it got real toxic recently, but likely frustrations from having differing opinions.

Where is my economics thread? I want to tell Whiskey how dumb he is and how he doesn't understand how the economy works.

I agree, it wasn't much worse than normal. Two people, one from each side of the political spectrum, lost their cool and crossed the line with a few vulgar insults. Other than that it was the same chimps hurling feces at each other as always.
