Nobody knows what went on behind the scenes. To me, it seems like there are three parties involved in this. ND, the Moore family, and potentially CJ Carr. It would seem logical to conclude that ND would want Moore to join. This is a no brainer. 4.0 kid, special talent, great kid. Pursue him hard. From the Moore family side, ND is still unquestionably the best option for them. Of course, the 4 for 40 benefits that we all know, but the potential NIL from being a stud QB at ND, and the path for playing time is much clearer than other schools. Furthermore, Dante is an ND kid. ND kids are just a cut above when talking to them vs. Other teams. The only thing I could see making this a situation where Dante is looking elsewhere is CJ. Either Dante or CJ perhaps doesn't want the other there for some reason. Obviously, the path to the field is easier without the other one. Maybe either CJ said, I will commit, but no Dante, or Dante said, now that CJ is on board, I will look elsewhere. If it is the first scenario, ok. CJ looks like a stud and is fully invested...we move on. If it is the second scenario, I would imagine after the Moores get over the shock of ND being proactive and signing another stud, they will still realize ND is the best option for them. How could they not? So we shall see. I honestly think the only reason ND doesn't end up with Dante, is if they promised CJ they wouldn't go after a 5* '23 QB. Just my speculation.
