Joe Wood showed his ass today. I understand you are playing Patrick Mahomes, but for Christ's sakes, take a chance. He nickled and dimed them to death. I thought Baker was fantastic until the 4th quarter. Chubbs fumble and the the punter fumble were killers. Would have been a different game.

I don't know. Beckham is still young, but the Browns gave up and awful lot for him. Hopefully he and Mayfield develop some chemistry. I'm cautiously optimistic, I just hope they didn't overpay. Used to seeing the Browns bring in veterans that are starting to crumble. His last few seasons haven't been great statistically, although injuries caused him to miss most of 2017.

First season was alright. Last year was a bust, and this year is looking like another. Lowest performance for any game of his career today where he played the full game, 1 catch for 6 yards. We gave up too much. We could have had a young receiver at Pick 17 and kept the 3rd rounder along with Peppers.

I really wanted to be wrong about that one, Browns got fleeced again. OBJ expected to be released today after his dad pulled that social media stunt throwing the team under the bus. Beckam has been excused from practice the last two days, and word is now he has no plans on playing for the Browns again so he's getting released. What a waste.

His 1st and 2nd seasons were good, but after that I don't remember him doing much or being that elite of a receiver. Is he one of those receivers that thinks the world should revolve around him?

I think he's a diva but at the same time how he's been utilized is criminal. In New York, his problem was aging Eli Manning couldn't get him the ball. In Cleveland, the film speaks for itself -- he's been inconsistent, but he'd have double the yardage and multiple TDs if Mayfield could throw even an adequate deep ball.

The team that needs him and would be a good fit is the Raiders.

FIFY....too bad they'd never do it. I really don't get it. The disparity between OBJ and Allan freakin' Lazard or Marquez Valdez Scantling...imagine him opposite Adams.

Colts could use another receiver but OBJ seems like a locker room cancer so I don’t see that happening.

Baker Mayfield stinks

OBJ is a self absorbed diva that thinks he can do whatever he wants. He looks open all the time because he's constantly just doing whatever the fuck he wants. Kev's offense is predicated on timing and players being where they're supposed to be. OBJ free styling and running whatever routes he feels like was never going to work.

Beyond that even when Baker got him the ball he dropped EVERYTHING. Hands of stone, can't stay healthy, and an ego fit for a player of Jerry Rice or Randy Moss caliber.

And the team that claims OBJ would be responsible for over $7MM just for the rest of this season………tough to swallow that.

I think if someone was willing to take him on that contract they would have traded for him before the deadline. I don’t see a team claiming him. I see him
signing with a team like the Chiefs for the rest of the season on a smaller deal.

This is 100% right. Stafanski’s offense is predicated on running precise routes and he didn’t. The media won’t show the constant drops he had at key moments of the game especially on 4th down. They say he is fine on the locker room and I have no issues with him but he just was an awful fit in this offense

This thread is a hilarious time capsule. All the Brady Quinn hype… quickly followed by zero posts after September of 2007, when everyone realized how that was going.

Then a bump in 2018 for Baker the savior!

I was a huge Baker guy. Thought he would be the best QB from that draft class for sure, and thought his attitude was what Cleveland needed to get out of the hole… but maybe that attitude swings a bit too much to the extreme, and it has now become a detriment for a team that doesn’t need an emotional miracle worker anymore.

It also makes me appreciative and amazed that the Bengals were able to go from Palmer to Dalton to Burrow (with a Kitna and a Fitzpatrick thrown in there randomly for a couple seasons), while seeing the QB graveyard that much of the rest of the NFL becomes. Dalton might have been a playoff dud, but the Bengals somehow avoiding a long stay in NFL QB purgatory is a result of luck as much as anything.

Crazy that teams are now lining for watson's services because no indictment is coming...but apparently not batting an eye over the leadership and character qualities of a QB that's essentially engaged in rampant degenerate behavior and prostitution.

He's the anti-OBJ personality wise. Quiet, low key, no prima donna attention seeking. He has good hands and runs good routes, but he's stiff and doesn't always give 100%. He just seems to disconnect or lose interest at times. I think that if he's motivated with the right team and situation, he could still be a beast. You just gotta get him going and push him.

Baker needs more than that. It’s like he’s got the infamous “seeing ghosts” thing going on. He was missing correct/open reads in favor of high-risk throws, or throws short of the sticks, for some reason.

Maybe it was just the injuries screwing him up or causing him to be a little erratic with his decision making? It will be interesting to see how he responds with an off-season to get healthy and work with a WR group not burdened by OBJ.

Baker Mayfield to the Colts is picking up steam. Who knows?
Ha! For a team that was arguably the luckiest team in football history by getting the #1 pick the years Manning and Luck were available, I hope they continue to struggle in QB mediocrity for 50 more years.

Should probably move these replies to the other Browns thread @IrishLion @Cackalacky2.0 @IrishLax

Browns really did screw the pooch though. I was right about the OBJ trade when he came to Cleveland. He may have turned it on for the Rams, but he didn't pan out for the Browns which is what I was worried about. Gave up too much with little in return. Then he burned Mayfield on the way out, creating more doubts.

I'm not sure I was ever super high on Mayfield. I liked him more than most QBs we had, but he always felt like a slightly less manic Johnny Manziel 2.0. At the very least he got them to the playoffs though and was one botched ref call from beating the Chiefs in the 2020 season. So Cleveland starts chasing Watson, they whiff, and they piss off Baker in the process. Now it looks like Cleveland is without OBJ and Mayfield will be gone too, back to the drawing board. I hate to say it, but Juju Smith-Schuster was right..."The Browns is the Browns."
