Looks like I’m in the minority, but I would put Watson in the top five. Is he worth that price? Probably not.
Well it's only 1 first round pick more than Seattle paid for a safety.
Watson the player is absolutely worth three 1's in the right city/circumstance.
Imo, he needs a dome with his weak arm.
He's going to have some bad performances come December up north.

There's some talk that the Browns may want to reunite Watson and Will Fuller in Cleveland. While I always love to see ND guys in Cleveland, these weren't the circumstances I was hoping for. Injuries have really held him back too.

With the Browns history at QB you sort of have to go all in eventually at that position.

Who would’ve guess after the video OBJ’s made that Beckham would have a Super Bowl ring and Baker would be traded/cut by the Browns.

I like Baker. He's the ultimate fratboy douche... but that's the charm. Seems like an ok guy

Now there's rumors out that Baker was cheating or at least hitting up other women while in Cleveland. Gotta wonder if this is PR created by the Browns to ease the Watson transition, the timing is uncanny.

Mariota to Atlanta.
Winston back to NO?
Philly sticks with Hurts.

Not much of a QB market left for Baker. Who is left? Seattle and Carolina?

Well,... it's been a wild off season and here comes another draft that is sure to disappoint. At least we have other fan bases to lessen/share our pain...

I still can't believe we paid all that for DW and he's arguably the third best QB in our division...

My number 1 goal of this draft,... trade Baker. You cannot release him and let him go to Pittsburgh, which he will. I'm not sayin he will become a HoFer for them, but he could and I'm not willing to find out. You must control where he goes. Get him out of conference, even if it's for one lil compensation pick.

Baker sucks, I'd give him to the Steelers for a bag of chips...

I do think the AFC North will be really fun to watch this year with Jackson, Watson and Burrow. Then there's the Steelers QB situation...lol.

Watson is a much much better passer than Lamar.

The trade is about equivalent to what SF gave up to move up and get Trey Lance. I’d rather have someone proven. With the cap increases on the horizon I also think his deal is gonna look reasonable really soon.

He has had four years.... a STELLAR rookie season, a bad sophomore campaign... a good third year where he outperformed DW and then he hurt is shoulder last year in the first game of the season and played with a torn shoulder the rest of the way.... I don't think it's fair to say he sucks. No way do I want him in a Steelers jersey.

I don't disagree with any of this... but it doesn't really impact my original statement either...

I don't want to split hairs, I've strongly disliked Baker since his days at OU so I'll just admit my bias up front. But Idk how accurate it is to say he was "stellar" his rookie year and maybe he doesn't "suck" but the truth is certainly somewhere in the middle, probably closer to suck...

He was top 10 in QBR once (#10 in 2020).

His rating in his "stellar" rookie szn was 23rd. (Watson 13).

2019: 19th. (Watson #7)

2020: 10th (Watson #12)

2021: 27th (!). Watson N/A

Though I ultimately agree you probably don't want him to go to a division rival.

He was really good his rookie season,… he only played like 10 games tho because Hue Jackson’s a moron and his numbers may reflect that.

It was sort of a bad day for both teams.

Bears got Trubisky now with the Steelers

49ers got Thomas with the 3rd that did not amount to much
49ers got the 67th that turned into Alvin Kamara but for the Saints, who got the pick in a package deal to get a CB they used sparingly.
Not sure of the others but I think they got Fred Warner with that 2018 pick.

If not for that extra 2018 3rd rounder the 49ers would look silly as well.

Because the guy played basically the entire last season hurt (and showed up to give everything he had left for the team) I refuse to crap on Mayfield, and certainly don't think the circumstances allow some great final judgement on what his future could be. It's another of these moronic media witch hunts that we see piling on momentum to trash individuals without any sense of balanced or nuanced judgement. We see this all the time by mediocre "analysts" who substitute screaming and smirking about people for research and insight. Sadly we see it even here on IE on all manner of people commentary. I say let the guy make his own future. Maybe in 5-8 years we'll have justifications for whatever half-baked ideas we spew forth. Mayfield IS a liability to the Browns due to their economic moves, so they need to get him off the salary mountain. That's all we REALLY know given the injury year problems. Someone else should get this guy into camp and see if he's healthy and if so what does he bring to the position with a sound team and offensive system. SOMETHING was "mysteriously" wrong with the Browns last season and it wasn't all Baker Mayfield.

We drafted Myles five years ago today apparently,… dominates the league, assaulted and nearly killed a steeler on live television,… he’s a boys hero. Legend.

When you are the #1 overall pick in the draft, I don't think it's unfair to hold someone to a higher standard.

Four years is plenty of sample size for a QB. Baker was behind Daniel fricken Jones in two of his healthy years in QBR.

He's been supported by a great running game and has enjoyed plus weapons with guys like Jarvis Landry, Odell and one of the better TEs in the league in David Njoku. If you want to say he's a serviceable QB, sure, go ahead. The Browns clearly feel like he wasn't their guy and sold a TON to bring in a controversial franchise QB to replace their former #1 overall pick. Idk what else to tell you.

Again, I've alread laid out my bias towards the guy, never liked his cocksure attitude at OU and have no love for him. But I believe there's a reason why teams haven't been clamoring for his services after the QB carousal has already spun this offseason. But I digress...

But opinion based upon personality bias is noise.
Why keep talking so authoritatively about some guy's future based on that?
I know IE encourages over-the-top commentary, but I prefer a more fact based and nuanced perspective
(especially when dissing individual athletes.)

Apologies to IE; that was probably not worth bringing up. Mayfield will resurrect his career or he won't.
