When you are the #1 overall pick in the draft, I don't think it's unfair to hold someone to a higher standard.

Four years is plenty of sample size for a QB. Baker was behind Daniel fricken Jones in two of his healthy years in QBR.

He's been supported by a great running game and has enjoyed plus weapons with guys like Jarvis Landry, Odell and one of the better TEs in the league in David Njoku. If you want to say he's a serviceable QB, sure, go ahead. The Browns clearly feel like he wasn't their guy and sold a TON to bring in a controversial franchise QB to replace their former #1 overall pick. Idk what else to tell you.

Again, I've alread laid out my bias towards the guy, never liked his cocksure attitude at OU and have no love for him. But I believe there's a reason why teams haven't been clamoring for his services after the QB carousal has already spun this offseason. But I digress...

It’s also important to mention his contract situation. If Baker had another two years on his rookie deal then I think the Browns would have been more likely to stick with him. But him wanting a big extension with the mediocre play he’s been showing doesn’t make sense.

Just read a report that it's going to be an open competition between him and Sam Darnold but Baker should win that one easily, IMO. He's much better than Darnold.

Agreed, I thought they Browned themselves again but it appears they actually made good decisions. I was not a believer in Mayfield but after one data point, he looked very good.

Browns might start surging soon.

Baker Mayfield is probably one of my least favorite NFL players. I cringe when I see him in commercials for the same game hes been brutal in week in and week out.

Let's go back when the Browns had a chance to turn the organization around: they had stockpiled picks by trading back and were absolutely primed to load themselves up with young talent and build a core nucleus to make a run.

Then they selected Baker Mayfield and I thought it was a very poor idea. Really hope JOK can pad his stats and get traded to a team who can compete.

There are times I can't tell if he's trolling or if he's just being his normal dopey self. Either way, despite his past he's more likable than Watson and it helps he doesn't have a massive contract on his shoulders.
