I can’t get over it. The contract is crazy. Essentially if the player is a bust they can recollect the money and charge up to 10% interest. Can’t get any slimier.

Ok, thanks. So he has a deal in place with them.No obligation, but he gets nothing if he chooses a different school.
It cannot be tied to attending a specific school, so there is nothing that would prevent the QB from signing with a different school and the collective _cannot_ void the contract because of the school selected. That was one of the key points of the article, it is all being done on trust. When this deal takes effect, he will have not be "allowed" to sign others.
edit - I'm wrong about what I said. It's a til the end of jr. year deal that pays $350K immediately. The rest pays out in escalating monthly payments once he starts school. I assume the contract voids if the player doesn't sign, but the org will be out the $350K. Player cannot sign any other NIL deals...I'm guessing until his jr. year is over. Player will have to do appearances, social media work, and "other" NIL stuff on behalf of the collective/third party
ND is doing some stuff, but it’s more about taking care of players once they’re on campus rather than trying to buy them with promises up front. They’re not playing that game right now, for a lot of reasons, but they *are* showing guys how current players are going to be taken care of.Lax, I think it was you that alluded to it in the past, but is there any indication some ND alumni/boosters will be doing one of these collectives? IPC isn’t considered one yeah?
This is all really turning me off from CFB.
I buy your first three sentences.I can’t get over it. The contract is crazy. Essentially if the player is a bust they can recollect the money and charge up to 10% interest. Can’t get any slimier.
So they can't hire an agent, but they can hire a NIL rep?
They can hire agents now because of NIL which is like 95% of the reason people expect stuff to go to hell in a hand basket. Their agents will ONLY be looking out for a pay day. They will literally be pushing kids to the portal to get their 10% from highest bidder. So they can't hire an agent, but they can hire a NIL rep?
This is gonna be a mess holy shitIf I’m correct and I’m usually not I think the agents technically qualify as the required intermediary for exchange of money. The only real rules appear to be a person cannot directly pay a player and the payment cannot be to entice or oblige a player to play for a college. Other than that the student must self report to the school must self report to the NCAA. What could go wrong?
Of course NCAA.If I’m correct and I’m usually not I think the agents technically qualify as the required intermediary for exchange of money. Sounds to me they are planning on not losing at the LoSLooking at Texas A&M's 2021 AND 2022 class. What are they doing? Is this NIL? 14 Defensive Linemen? They are going to be Transfer U soon!!
QB - 3 (includes 1 transer)
RB - 3
WR - 4
TE - 5
OL - 11
DL - 14
LB - 2
DB - 11
K - 1
And Notre Dame would still boss them around lolSounds to me they are planning on not losing at the LoS
Dabo is pissed because he no longer has an advantage with the new spring churchDabo might be my new favorite coach in college football. I love his old school approach and focus on the degree when asked about NIL with Chris Low from ESPN:
"There's no rules, no guidance, no nothing. It's out of control. It's not sustainable. It's an absolute mess and a train wreck, and the kids are going to be the ones who suffer in the end. There are going to be a lot of kids that end up with no degrees and make decisions based on the wrong things."
This. Clemsons donor base and marketable opportunities are minuscule compared to the weight class they have been in the last five years.Dabo is pissed because he no longer as advantage with the new spring church
