Notre Dame football recruiting stayed hot today when Royal Center (Ind.) Pioneer high school three-star linebacker Jack Kiser pledged to the Fighting Irish.
The 6-2, 215-pounder from the class of 2019 recently informed the Notre Dame coaching staff of his intentions and went public with his decision today.
Kiser recently picked up an offer from May 7 following an in-person evaluation from multiple Notre Dame coaches including defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clark Lea, as well as special teams coordinator Brian Polian. The assistants were clearly impressed with what they saw and made it clear to Kiser following the visit that he would be heavily recruited by Notre Dame moving forward. That effort paid off, as the staff picked up one of Indiana’s top college football recruits.
Notre Dame beat Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue, Duke, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska and a few others on Kiser’s offer list. This is a big win for the Fighting Irish, as the staff wants athletic linebackers and that’s exactly what they are getting in Kiser. He is one of the most productive two-way prospects in the Hoosier State and very few linebackers run as well as he does. He’ll be an ideal fit in Lea’s defense. Think about a player similar to Drue Tranquill, but one playing linebacker from day one.
...
This is odd to me. I guess they like him better than others. If we get osita does henrich move to drop? Then we go after gbenda or sinclair? Is there anyone at drop they love?
Good to keep some players from the home state. DT has turned out well. So if the staff thinks he can play here then I say cheers young man.
That makes a lot of sense actually. Hopefully they get a preferred drop so switches aren't needed.3 Lb’s seems to be the number. ISD mentioned that they think there is a lack of true Buck LB’s on the roster, after NSD. Maybe the staff feels the same way and is wanting to bring in 2 Bucks in this class.
At Drop they are very high on Dicosmo and Trice. Plus we already have Nana.
His offer list and high school competition would suggest a career path closer to Brandon Tiassum than Drue Tranquill. I sincerely hope Kiser proves the naysayers wrong though.
Tim Prister absolutely ripped into this kid in his film eval. Yeesh.

A 6’2” lb/safety prospect that runs a 11 second 100 and pushes shot and the discus doesn’t even compare to that. This is the type of versatility you recruit to fill holes and he could very well develop into a stud.

Penn state was a shit offer when drew was being recruited. MSU,Iowa are solid. I’m not expecting him to make noise freshman year but I’m excited after thatBrandon Tiassum

I certainly hope he develops into a stud. I just don't know how realistic it is to expect that given our history of success (or lack thereof) developing players with similar profiles.
