Just finished BvS for the first time. Didn't see it in theaters, and I watched the Ultimate Edition, so idk what I saw that wasn't in the original version, but I thought it was decent.
It was definitely a bit disjointed at first. It felt like every scene was only a minute long. It was almost exhausting the way they shifted the setup so much to so many different places. I understand it was necessary, and I didn't mind as much as others, but it was still hard to see where it was all going. I guess in a weird way, that's actually kind of nice, though.
And it came together and felt much more natural in the end. Even Wonder Woman coming in for the climactic battle didn't feel as over-crowded as I thought it might, considering the setup she got earlier in the movie at the Luthor party.
A few thoughts/questions:
BATMAN VS SUPERMAN SPOILERS FOR ANY THAT ARE SUPER LATE IN WATCHING IT, LIKE ME:
1. I would travel 500 miles to give Gal Gadot my seed.
2. Superman obviously faked his death in order to kill the Clark Kent persona, thus protecting his loved ones, right?
3. I wonder how he will re-introduce himself in Justice League. Will it be a clever/funny Sherlock-esque reveal, or will he show up right in the nick of time to save somebody?
4. Who is the next big bad guy? Lex Luthor was obviously learning about/communicating with someone from the "10,000 worlds" or whatever the ship was teaching him about when he got taken in. I don't know much of the comic book lore... is the next bad guy Apocalypse? And is he the model for humans' understanding of "the devil"? They showed a portrait of Lucifer falling from heaven, and it looked kind of like the guy with the big horns that was being framed by the codex pieces in the Kryptonian ship when Luthor was found.
5. Lex Luthor going to Arkham? Is there going to be a tie-in with Suicide Squad and/or the Joker? Perhaps a new version of the Scarecrow? Or is that going to have to wait for the first Batfleck standalone?
6. Who's the cyborg guy that's going to be in Justice League?
7. Why did the Flash look Asian in the security footage during BvS, but looks like a nerdy white guy in the Comic Con footage?
8. Is "The Flash" that's on TV the same guy as the one that will be in the movie? Or is this a character reinvention already?
9. I did NOT like how quickly Batman went from "kill Superman" to "I'm his friend." There should have at least been a cheesy convo about how they both do things they don't like in order to do what they think is right.
10. Definitely #TeamSuperman in terms of their initial disagreement. Superman is guilty of causing collateral damage, but fewer lives are lost as a result. On the flip side, Batfleck is branding dudes for execution, when due process calls for no such thing. He is DIRECTLY killing guys and marking others for death, whereas Superman accidentally caused a mass loss-of-life while battling a bad guy that would have killed so many more people. Bruce Wayne needs to take a minute and recognize! (Which I think he actually did, considering he branded the wall rather than Luthor in the end.)
11. The Wonder Woman Guitar Riff that plays when she's on the screen is sweet.
