I think a lot of 4-3 teams will see Day as an everydown starter.

Don't get me wrong, I love Sheldon and I think he'll end up being a very quality NFL player and I think he showed that last week. However, he is undersized compared to the average NFL DT and he's injury prone. He's only had 1 out of 4 seasons where he was fully healthy and we all know the NFL game is far more demanding on the body. My point was, I wouldn't draft Sheldon with the expectation that he's playing 50+ snaps every week for 16 weeks in 2016. I'd bring him in as a rotational player and see where that goes. It shouldn't affect his draft stock. Numerous examples of players drafted in the first two rounds that were initially brought in as pass rushers first and everydown guys second or later.

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Sheldon Day

NFL COMPARISON Mike Daniels

BOTTOM LINE
Appears to be a man without a true position, but good football players find spots on rosters and snaps on the field. Day makes up for his undersized frame with quick hands, impressive lateral movement and effort level that is rarely matched. There will be teams who scratch him off their draft board due to size and scheme concerns, but his ability to rush the passer from the interior will be sought out by others who recognize his potential value.

Unfair advantage! He spent half of the pass snaps his last two years dropping into coverage from his DT position.

Just compared his combine measurables to Will Sutton and Aaron Donald and he's basically right in between the two.

I can't believe he was not drafted in the first three rounds. He has gotten better every single year. He is extremely productive and a leader. Football has obviously been a huge priority in his life. He has durability question marks, but he was consistently great all 13 games this year from beginning to end.

Durability plus underwhelming measurables. I agree that someone is going to get a steal though.

This. Especially the durability concerns. He was banged up all the time AND he's undersized for a physically demanding position. Sort of a tough sell.

Just selected by the Jags as the 5th pick in the 4th round, pick #103 overall. Congrats Sheldon!

About to be a lot of talent on D on that team. Fowler last year plus Jack Ramsey and Day this year.

He's really playing well right now. Everywhere I look, in regards to Jags football, someone is tweeting out videos of him or making quotes about his play. He just needed to stay fully healthy an get into better shape.

The kid's motor has never been in question. If he stays healthy, he'll be in the league for a while.

You obviously haven't been paying attention. He has changed his physique quite a bit. He redistributed quite of a bit of weight from his sophomore and even Junior seasons to now. He spoke about it last year quite a bit. Much less baby fat on him.

And FWIW, I didn't mean he had to get into better shape now, I said that he needed to get into better shape. Which he did between his sophomore/Junior seasons to last year. The Sheldon you see now is most definitely not the Sheldon from 2 years ago, not even close. I don't think him playing his first full season injury free was a fluke.

Seen that on the replay this morning when I was getting ready for work. I forgot that he was drafted by them. I heard Koyack's name a few times too shortly after.
