I watched "16 Blocks" the other day. It's a solid thriller. Good performances from Bruce Willis & David Morse. Mos Def did a good job, too, even though his speech pattern is annoying.

"Olympus Has Fallen" was the lowest grade of "decent" that I would give a movie. Not quite enough to call it "bad" for what it was, but it definitely wasn't "good" either. Any rational person who saw the first one would know that a sequel was a terrible idea.

I remember that came out at the same time as the other White House Takeover movie, "White House Down." That one had Jamie Fox and Channing Tatum, and was much more entertaining IMO. I'd watch those two on the same screen again before "London Has Fallen."

I agree. "Olympus has Fallen" was better overall because it did a better job of being a tense, kick-ass action movie. "White House Down" started OK, but then went off track with too many predictably left-wing Hollywood political tropes. It got way too self-righteous for its own good, like Aaron Sorkin decided to re-make "Die Hard."

London has fallen was okay, just look at it like a die hard movie and don't expect a big story line. Lots of action from start to finish

Box Office: 'London Has Fallen' Tops 'Olympus Has Fallen,' Triples Its Budget

Pretty innocuous title for an article...just reporting on how the movie has done...but read the article.

It talks about how the movie has done better overall than the first and therefore we are likely to get a third, but all the while through the article the author just keeps ripping on the flick and is basically holding himself back from saying it is a MF PoS because he is writing for Forbes.

I haven't seen it but will probably on home video as I did enjoy the first one (see previous convo on Olympus has Fallen above). So, I clicked on the article figuring it would be a quick little blurb about it's box office and discover it goes on for 7 paragraphs from a guy who vehemently seems to dislike its existence. I just thought it was funny that this guy obviously didn't want to be the one to write the article and took the opportunity to make his feelings known.

Because of the writers take, it just made me laugh and I figured I would share with you guys especially in light of the previous discussion.

I watched this on Netflix last night. Foreign language documentary about American movies smuggled in to communist Romania in the 80's and then dubbed mostly by one woman and their impact as a glimpse to life on the other side of the iron curtain.

Yes. That's my favorite Denzel movie.

I watched The Equalizer last night. If you're into Denzel movies, it's a must watch. Down the same alley as "Man on Fire". Had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. Great flick.

My wife and I saw it this past weekend in 3D IMAX. I loved it.

Just out of curiosity, how old is your daughter and was she frightened at all? We had a conversation afterward about whether or not my niece and nephew could handle it. They scare easily and some of those scenes were intense for a Disney movie, imo.

My daughter is 9 and will be 10 in August. I spoke to a woman leaving the theater with a younger child and she said the child got really scared. I can see it with the tiger animations and such.

Im not sure I would suggest it for under 8 to be honest.

"Man on Fire" is a close second (with "Remember the Titans" 3rd), so maybe I'll check out "The Equalizer." Haven't seen that one.

This was our conclusion as well.

Thanks.

There's a Equalizer 2 coming out next year but they take a backseat compared to the original.

Was just on IMDB and realized this page is dedicated to IE's love of ultimate guy film director, Antoine Fuqua. He did:

Training Day
Olympus Has Fallen
Equalizer

His other movies include:

The Replacement Killers .... (loved)
Bait
Tears of the Sun
King Arthur
Shooter
Brooklyn's Finest
Southpaw

and he's currently working on a new Magnificent Seven starring Denzel and a documentary on Suge Knight ...along with possibly directing Equalizer 2.

That was from 3:10 to Yuma right?? I was very eh on it... for a 'this generation' western I thought both the True Grit remake and, especially, Open Range were better... I loved Open Range.

True Grit is kind of cheating imo. Open Range was great though. I'd put 3:10 above it, but not by much. Very different kinds of movies. 3:10 was just exceptionally paced.

What constitutes this generation? Because I loved True Grit and 3:10 to Yuma both, but they fall humbled before Unforgiven.

Curious, why was it cheating, because it's a remake? So was 3:10 to Yuma...

I was hoping that if they remade "The Magnificent 7" (or "The 7 Samurai" to get technical) it wouldn't be as a western again. I'd like to see the story re-done in a more modern time period, like maybe a group of contemporary war veterans getting hired out to protect a village from a marauding warlord.

Russell Crowe's "Hand of God" gun alone is enough of a reason to watch that movie.

Haven't seen this one, been meaning to for a while.
Another kewl gun in that movie, too. Viggo Mortensen carries an 8 gauge shotgun.
