I also watched London has Fallen...I'd rather see Gods of Egypt.... So bad...

"Olympus Has Fallen" was the lowest grade of "decent" that I would give a movie. Not quite enough to call it "bad" for what it was, but it definitely wasn't "good" either. Any rational person who saw the first one would know that a sequel was a terrible idea.

I remember that came out at the same time as the other White House Takeover movie, "White House Down." That one had Jamie Fox and Channing Tatum, and was much more entertaining IMO. I'd watch those two on the same screen again before "London Has Fallen."

Haven't seen London has Fallen and probably won't until it shows up on Netflix, TBS, etc. However, I actually liked Olympus has Fallen better than White House Down. Olympus while somewhat cheesy still played it straight action. White House Down played it more jokey and wink, wink nudge, nudge and I didn't get into it as much. Just personal preference.

Looking forward to seeing Black Mass tonight.

Have recently enjoyed End of Tour, Love & Mercy, Truth and American Ultra on Redbox. Almost turned AU off in the first few minutes. Glad I didn't.

I agree. "Olympus has Fallen" was better overall because it did a better job of being a tense, kick-ass action movie. "White House Down" started OK, but then went off track with too many predictably left-wing Hollywood political tropes. It got way too self-righteous for its own good, like Aaron Sorkin decided to re-make "Die Hard."

I guess it became "cheesy action" vs "cheesy jokes" for me, and I fall on the side of "cheesy jokes" in this instance.

Ancient Greeks were white. They weren't Germanic or anything, but they were olive skinned Caucasians.

They were all (Mediterranean Europeans) a lot whiter than most think. I'm not sure how Greek you are but you may know of the poem or song that lighter skinned Greeks tease their more Turkish infused friends that goes something like... "As we danced safely in the mountain meadows the Turks raped your mothers in the valley below". You Greeks have a wonderfully caustic sense of humor. Just ask Koon.

London has fallen was okay, just look at it like a die hard movie and don't expect a big story line. Lots of action from start to finish

Batman v Superman was fantastic! Ben Affleck is the perfect Bruce Wayne IMO.

I have not seen any of those. But I'd imagine that anything Macbeth is difficult to screw up.

I haven't heard anything about the first or third, but I heard Macbeth was great (but if you don't like Shakespeare I don't know why you'd want to see it) and that Trumbo was straight trash outside of Cranston.

10 Cloverfield lane was amazing. Goodman nails his role, the supporting cast was very good and the movie kept me guessing all the way through.

I strongly recommend it.

Never got to see the Hateful Eight. I've got it on order at work as one of the perks of my job. I anxiously await being able to post my thoughts.

Just saw The Big Short. Awesome and infuriating at the same time.

Watched it the other week on my United flight. Very well done. Probably one of the best movies I've seen in a while. (I don't watch many movies)

Just the standard blu-ray/dvd/digital combo.

I didn't see anything about the 70mm version being released, or if that's even translatable(?) to home viewing.

Just saw it Saturday. Goodman was a big surprise. I really didn't know he had acting chops like that. Definitely keeps you guessing all the way through as to whether he's nuts, right, dangerous, a hero, or what the heck he is and what's going on. I thought all three actors did a great job.

My wife & I watched The Martian this weekend. Deserves all the praise it's gotten. Very well done and believable without all the over-the-top superhero & special effects overkill stuff that makes too many movies seem like video game commercials aimed at hyperactive 13-year-olds. Matt Damon called the movie a love letter to science and that's a very apt description.

Apparently. All I've ever seen him in was Roseanne, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Revenge Of The Nerds. I just thought of him as a loud, "big personality", comedic actor. Shows how much I know. He tore up the part in 10 Cloverfield and impressed the heck out of me.

Do yourself a favor. Grab some of your favorite beverages, a big pizza, and binge watch the following:

- The Big Lebowski
- Flight
- Fallen
- The Babe
- The Gambler

Watched "The Intern" with the wife. It was palatable for being a chick flick. De Niro is probably why.

Finally got around to seeing Deadpool with my dad a couple days ago. Very enjoyable. That's the role Reynolds was born to play.
