I doubt a real Stanford alum would refer to ND that way. Any educated person would recognize that ND, while not necessarily in the same league as Stanford, is nonetheless an excellent academic institution. A remark like that just betrays that person's ignorance.

It's a waitress' job to serve me when I go to a restaurant. Doesn't mean I should just occupy all of her time, have her read me the menu, and then just ask for a water.
