However, I for one, would like to see the young man have another chance, given he hasn't had past trouble we don't know about. If it was just "I'll kick your ass", I can understand being drunk and saying something stupid.

But he brings race into it, and a gun threat. Personally, I have no tolerance for that. I don't have family that is in law enforcement, but if I did, I'd feel very strongly against police threats.

I read the article and I have to say his actions are despicable. However, I still stand by everything that I have said previously in this thread. Poor decision are still just that, poor decisions. I hope he can get his life in order first, then we can worry about school and football. No matter how good of a guy he is, there are some demons that he needs to fend off moving forward.

Agreed. The only time I ever saw anyone talk a first or second out of jail time, in Ohio, by reduction was once on an over charged incident. Granted I have a very limited sampling. But that was a second degree felony, pled to a first degree misdemeanor.

What do you think? Are the five (total) charges going to insulate the veracity of the big one?

Wow. Almost impossible to believe. Recruiting-trail Will Mahone seemed like such a nice guy.

But even people who are usually "nice guys" sometimes do crazy things if they are hopped up and pissed off. Now it sure looks like Will will have to pay for some big mistakes. Sad to see a great opportunity to get a degree and get on track for success apparently squandered. I mean, if all that's true ... the outlook can't be good.
