None of this is verified yet, so please don't jump all over me if this turns out not to be true...but a good friend of mine who is very dialed in with UCLA recruiting just texted me that he heard today that Oklahoma is not going to be re-signing their primary Fresno recruiter, Courtney Viney, who was a grad assistant the last two years. Viney is from Fresno and played at UCLA, so they know him well and there are rumors flying around that he could be looking at joining Mora's staff at UCLA. My buddy also mentioned that he heard that one of the reasons he was not re-signed was that he couldn't close Kelly. Take it with a grain of salt because I can't validate this anywhere online...but if true, this would have to be a good sign for us!
This is not knocking your friend... I remembered reading this about the Fresno -> Norman connection. Just sharing:
Predicting where college football's top 10 uncommitted recruits will play - SBNation.com
"I talk to coach Viney a lot, well of course, he is more of like a big brother he'll call me 'little bro' and stuff like that. He is more of a big brother kind of guy, he'll still do his little recruiting stuff - say certain stuff, it's more words of wisdom and good luck and stuff like that,"
If Viney ends up at UCLA good for him He had a good 4 years here before grad transferring out to purgatory at New Mexico St. After a life in Fresno, with stops in Las Cruces and Norman... I can see why he'd be jumping at the chance to get to Westwood.
...and yeah, hopefully he dropped the ball with Kelly. That would suck so good.
