Edit i tried to italicize that first line. Are our quotes italicized all the time?

Um, am I blind or did you not change anything? lol I can't see anything thats 'fixed'. And yes, our quotes are italicized all the time.

Well thats what i was "fixing" i was putting the first line in italics. But since out quotes are already apparently italicized to begin with it looks like i didnt do anything.

No good spot for this, but this is the hot thread, so...

Can you guys retweet the hell out of this quote from Colin Cowerd?

These recruits care about ESPN personalities, so this is just great.

Seems like I'm self-promoting but I don't give a shit about how many followers I have. As is, not a damn ND person/recruit will see it:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/TheIrishTP">@TheIrishTP</a> Colin Cowerd: "When someone comes on the air, if they're from <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23ND&src=hash">#ND</a> we're good. If <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Georgia&src=hash">#Georgia</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23UNC&src=hash">#UNC</a>, we have to be careful."</p>— Jake (@IrishJake1) <a href="https://twitter.com/IrishJake1/statuses/474936308377587712">June 6, 2014</a></blockquote>

24/7 has now had two reporters going beyond the job description to publicly decry our fanbase, slander the university and possibly engage in illicit activity. Many of these people would prefer nothing more than to extirpate everything related to Notre.

He actually said 'OSU' in the quote and 'Georgia' in a later sentence, but I work with lots of OSU grads so I did not want to put that...

Feel free to make the TRUE version of the quote, but both schools were mentioned in back to back sentences so I didn't think it was bad to paraphrase.

Man up, don't change the man's words! You can't quote him if the quote isn't true.

Well I have to drop a couple words just to make it fit anyways. I don't think Twitter is taken as bible. And he literally said the exact same thing in the following sentence, just said Georgia instead of OSU.

I see quotes paraphrased everyday on twitter.

It's not like I'm making anything up. If you feel like it's unethical though, don't tweet it. Or like I said, substitute OSU in your own tweet.

I'm curious now...what was the full quote?

Literally what I said, plus a big laugh, followed by sarcasm.

TP, you have the recruits following you, you retweet this and kids will see it. Just saying :).

Or just write up the tweet yourself so you don't think I'm just whoring for twitter attn.

What was the context though lol?

IDK if you've heard about the UNC, Rashad McCants comments, but that's what he was talking about.

Basically saying he's not surprised because so many schools don't teach kids anything in college, and it shows afterwards, and obviously giving credit to ND for going above and beyond.

So basically everything we talk about when pounding our chests over the ND degree value, which is why I would love to see it retweeted until every possible person sees the quotes from Colin.

Kind of surprised I'm the only person so happy to see such a prominent ESPN figure say something that we preach everyday on here.

Without context, what is there to get excited about? Is Cowherd referring to the fact that they have to edit out all of the expletives, when he has guests from OSU or Georgia, because they don't have the vocabulary to express themselves? Or is he saying that he gets good ratings, because ND fans use social media to inform each other that "one of theirs" is on? Or........... is he just being a dick(as he is prone to do), and talking about how he doesn't get as much hate mail when an ND guy is on, because no one cares about ND anymore?

He's saying if you go to ND, you're going to be intelligent enough that you can be interviewed on ESPN or his show without them having to worry about you being an R-tard.

If you go to OSU, Georgia, UNC, ESPN worries if you're intelligent enough to put together an interview.

Put simply - he's saying ND takes care of you, and OSU/Georgia/UNC won't, and that will matter after football.

Didn't know I had to pull teeth to get ND fans to give ND a slight promotion via the most popular radio show host on ESPN, lol.

I give up. Don't tweet it. Or if you want to, make it more clear than I did.

I read it 4 xs and it made no sense until you said this. You didn't have to pull teeth, you just couldn't assume we all listen to a douche bag on ESPN radio and therefore get the context

public flogging....

Nah he should have to dress up in the duck mascot uniform and get kicked in the nuts by ND fans wearing Blake Barnett masks. It's all about the negative reinforcement at the cognitive level.

Reply to my email from 24/7.

Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail and we completely agree with you that Justin Hopkins behavior on Twitter was unprofessional and inappropriate. It’s not who we are as a network or a company. Justin was reprimanded yesterday and I can assure you he learned a valuable lesson. At the same time, there has been claims that Justin is recruiting kids to Oregon and there has been no evidence in the four years he has been part of the network to support this serious accusation. We have a zero tolerance policy for anyone who becomes part of the recruiting process versus reporting on the process and I’m proud to say in four years we haven’t had any issues with the NCAA or universities accusing our reporters of recruiting kids to a specific school.

Interesting. Is this the first that 247 has commented on this? Everything up to this point has just been about his conduct via Twitter. I'm surprised they even commented on the possible recruiting bit, figured they'd stay away from that.

You might want to reply by saying that I would think that you would want to avoid any appearance of impropriety. So it might be in 247's best interest to change his email from duckterritoryjustin@gmail.com to something a bit more generic. LOL

I am laughing my ass off right now. That is exactly what I did, almost verbatim.

Well, he doesn't have to hide that he covers Oregon. Duck Territory is just the name of his site, so I don't have a problem with the email address. The problem is his conduct.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I am still confused about what he supposedly did, to help recruit Barnett to Oregon? Or are people just conjecturing that he did something?

Its conjecture as far as the public is concerned. Word from reliable sources have carefully indicated that Hopkins isn't an innocent bystander.

Wasn't it Oregon that got in trouble in Texas for having persons outside the program recruiting for them too? I cannot remember the details but this scenario sounds familiar.

Yes. There was something to do with a booster/recruiter/douche bag who got them Lache Seastrunk a few years ago. They paid him off to steer kids toward Oregon.

But don't worry because Justin Hopkins is DEFINITELY not doing that.
