IF this was the staff's decision, I'm fine with it so long as we end with 85 scholarship players entering fall. Just means the staff is happy with what we have at the position. That said, we never start fall with 85 scholarships, so I'm pretty disappointed lol

I thought we did a great job last year. In fact, we were over the 85 after Spring practice and going into the Fall. I forgot what finally happened to get us down to the limit (and then below) but we kept a guy like Chase Hounshell around without giving him a guaranteed 5th year. I have a feeling we'll do the same thing this year.

I'm fine with the staff not taking Damar, yes he is a good player but I like Troy better. There are 7 DB commits in this class 1-2 may move to LB. There are a few nice DB's in 2017 that have ND at the top and it's gonna be a smaller class. With that said Sebatian and fuller could come back so you gotta save room for that. Someone mentioned in another thread we have two silent commits not sure how much truth there is to that. But if it's the case it's gotta be two of Caleb Kelly, Jeffrey Mcculoch and or Javon McKinley.

Maybe Pride wasn't thrilled with joining a DB loaded class and adding to it with Hamlin, and he expressed that to the staff. Staff liked Pride more and/or felt better about him than Hamlin, so decided to take Pride.

So maybe the staff would like to take Hamlin but it just wasn't the best situation to continue to pursue. Spit balling because I feel like thr staff would take both if they could.

Maybe it is also a numbers game. Looking back, we will have 14 DB's that will have two years or more left when summer camp ends. I know that some could become LB's, but if we add a few more in the 2017 class, maybe they just didn't want to continue to wait for someone that seems to be trying to find a reason to stay in Pennsylvania.

Per Loy after Pride committed staff told him he needs to commit and Hamlin was ready too and might have silent but still wanted to visit OSU and Pitt and staff moved on.

not saying didn't happen.
but, if true...odd.

perhaps at the time they (apparently) did this (not convinced) staff thought they'd hit 26-27 in the class easy without hamlin...now we may be lucky to.

anyway I moved on from him some time ago...
