Kids a stud. He just crushes life. If he could just stay healthy he'd see that much success on the field as well. Congrats Drue!

I noticed that it said Anthony Tranquill. Anyone know if Drue is a middle name?

Frankly, given the character of this kid and from what I've heard the coaches and his teammates think of him, it wouldn't surprise me if he's a captain next year.

Been my favorite player since he stepped on campus. Trumbetti is a close second...

But really happy to hear about Drue. He's a freak so I'm sure he's itching to play right now. Hope to see you out there Dru next year. If anyone can do it you can.

We have one hell of a media department for our football program. I haven't seen other schools' off season videos, but that was fantastically well done

This is a great point and this topic should be acknowledged. This is outstanding work.

This type of hard luck couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, literally. Having him healthy makes our defense so much better. I think it's becoming more and more apparent how much we really missed this kid last season.

Nice passive burn on Redfield there

Think so?

It may be about the changing of the guard?

Couldn't it be more about a change in direction for the whole defensive backfield?

After all, this year the back end (and the success that it has) will be dominated by the young talent. Besides Cole Luke, Max Redfield, and Drue Tranquil, (with possibly Avery Sebastian coming along), youth will make or break its success.

And, finally, watching the video of Drue, have you seen anyone on the roster since that reminds you more of Harrison Smith as a senior? Remember his mantra? Best in America, how we laughed, and how good the backend actually became? (Compared to previous years.)

Article from the local Fort Wayne TV Station.

Drue and Justin Tranquill discuss overcoming adversity together | WANE
Only one year and four months separate Drue and Justin Tranquill. The two brothers have many things in common from their love of football to their faith to their two torn ACL’s.

Drue and Justin Tranquill have torn four ACL’s within a year and a half. Justin was the first to injure his knee the summer leading up to his senior year at Carroll. It forced him to miss the entire 2014 season. Drue tore his ACL just a few months later during his freshman year at Notre Dame. Both recovered and were hoping for comeback seasons in 2015.

Drue was starting in his first game at Notre Dame on September 19th. After breaking up a pass just before half he jumped up to celebrate with his teammate. The sophomore safety came down and his right knee buckled. As soon as he heard the pop Drue knew what had happened.

Justin was suiting up for Western Michigan when he got the phone call from his dad that his brother had torn his ACL. Knowing the pain and how much Drue had to work to overcome the first tear Justin empathized with his older brother.

A few days later Justin would know exactly how his brother felt. During practice Justin planted his leg and felt the same pop. He too had tore his second ACL.

“I couldn’t let him one up me so I had to tear mine too,” Justin says.

Using that competitive nature the brothers lifted eachother up through the eight-month rehabilitation.

“It’s more of a mentality. It helped on those days of struggle to just be like Justin how are you doing because I’m really hurting today. Unless you’ve gone through it you don’t know the pain and the work,” Drue says.

The family is now searching for answers as to how two brothers could each have two torn ACL’s. Their younger brother who will be a sophomore at Carroll is getting his knee scoped to see if it is a hereditary condition.

Both Drue and Justin are now healed and are preparing for their upcoming seasons. Drue will be a junior at Notre Dame. Justin will be a sophomore at Western Michigan. Both are looking forward to playing their first full season of football in two seasons.

Evidently the family is wondering the same thing as many Irish fans.

Anyone know what happened to Dru?

Todd Blackledge didn't even know this. He said he figured Studstill would come in when Sebastian got hurt late in the game. Apparently he was unaware DS had been in the entire 2nd half for Tranquill.

Kelly just said they took him out for ineffectiveness.

Kelly basically said the two freshman safeties will be playing a lot the remainder of the year.

This is what needs to happen. The freshman DB's need to play, as well as Daelin and Jay Hayes. We basically played 5 DL last night with a couple of appearances from Bonner.
