Ashame he didnt redshirt as a freshman. Really think he could have been a 1000 yard WR with another year

Lucky enough to see him in High school and with ND. Great kid. Great article.

I spent the majority of last season bitching about him. I admit, I was wrong. Between reading all of the recent articles, watching A Season With, and watching him thru the year, I was completely wrong. There was some discussion not to long ago about what makes someone a Notre Dame man, this may be the strongest case in recent times for me.

That article makes me miss him already. Brown was truly a great player for us, on and off the field. I hope he gets drafted and makes the roster for someone.

I had a nice talk with Chris' dad tonight and this thread was brought up. Ol Mr. Brown got a great laugh of talking about the fun times of the thread. I know the Brown family couldn't be more happy with how things turned out.

And us Notre Dame fans couldn't be happier having Chris play football and represent the university for 4 years.

I just remember seeing the kid's film late in the recruiting process and thinking how in the hell is he still out there? What a blessing he chose ND. I'll miss him. All I can do now is hope he becomes a Steeler man. Go get the league with the same attitude you brought to ND Breezy...measurables say you belong son...go take it!

Didn't Urban try to swoop in and get Chris in the final hour?

Completely fine with the ND man title. Chris was an awesome guy by all accounts, and really brought it in practice. He might not have been Fuller, but those habbits can wear off on others too so he probably made the team better in ways that aren't easily observed. Thanks for choosing ND!

Chris Brown to me seemed like that guy who contribute on the field but not a super star. His super star status was, as people have said, was behind the scenes. Leadership can't really be taught.

This.

Fuller had never been pushed before until he was teamed up with CB on the track / workouts where Brezey was beating him by almost 2 seconds in the 200m. (Think about that) No doubt CB brought out the best in WF. Two guys that were greater because they were together.

Definitely deserves the Notre Dame Man title.

Congrats on all your accomplishments CB, I hope you land somewhere in the league you can make a splash. Best of luck!

Yup. I still remember Mr. Brown asking me to make a highlight video for Chris by taking his hudl video (which I think was private for the whole team or something), ripping it, and posting it to Youtube. It's my only video posted on Youtube to date. haha

Glad Chris is more than satisfied with his decision. And Mr. Brown, if you're reading, how's it going! Congrats to your boy!

Chris wasn't the weapon we all imaged he would be when he got here. Still a good player and you never heard a bad thing about him. I hope he gets the opportunity at the next level to show that he does have skill. Congrats on your degree and career at ND Chris. I know you made your family proud.

Can someone explain to me what the whole Notre Dame "man" thing is? Are we copying Michigan AGAIN with the "Michigan man"? How does one become a Notre Dame man and then other's don't?

I'm not banging on Chris at all (more on our expectations)....

When did Chris Brown move from major disappointment to ND Man? That's a huge change in our perspective on this young man. We need to remember Chris Brown and his career path when assessing the development of freshmen (many redshirt or should but aren't afforded the opportunity) or sophomores.

And as others have stated before, we can't undervalue the impact of upper classmen - leadership on and off the field as well as football production. A tough start to a career through the sophomore year is not necessary a football bust.

Posted this in the Jarrett Grace thread:
Plenty of universities do the same thing, not just Michigan. Michigan just happens to be the first one that comes to mind because they're lame and they abuse it a lot. "Notre Dame man" is a compliment and it has nothing to do with those asswipes in Ann Arbor.

To further prove my point, you can find references to "a Notre Dame man" in a similar context elsewhere, not just on IE. Some examples:

Observer Editorial: A true Notre Dame man // The Observer

Father Ted Hesburgh – God, Country, Notre Dame | Notre Dame Club of Atlanta

A True Notre Dame Man, Joe Hickey Made His Place ‘Home Away From Home’ For Irish - Forever Irish

Danny Spond, A True Notre Dame Man // UHND.com

Making his Father Proud :: Notre Dame Football :: UND.COM :: The Official Site of Notre Dame Athletics

In every one of those articles you'll find a reference to a "Notre Dame man." I didn't even pull references off any fan forums, I used mostly reputable websites connected to ND. Those were just some of the first ones that came up in a search, there's plenty more out there. So enough of this Michigan man bull**** comparison. Many schools do something similar to distinguish their own alumni, we don't need to quit using it just because the Skunkbears suck.

Following his production this year and a look in to who 'he' was on A Season With
