Isn't this pretty tired by now? UConn women's BB fans don't yell "AAC! AAC!" There is one excellent/dominant team in the league. The SEC had its run, of course, but Bama has been the exception the last couple years. The rest of the league has been mediocre.

Men amongst boys.. It's just a whole different level of recruiting going on in that program.. D linemen with LB athleticism, LBs with safety athleticism etc etc.

That was worse than what we took in 2012.

Sprty did not have the physical ability or heart to keep their blocks on the O line...was pitiful. Two high safeties and you can't run, or give your QB enough time to get the 10-12 yard throw off w/o being harassed. The receivers were mental midgets...could not concentrate long enough to catch a contested pass...THE ONLY TWO people from the Sparty offense that looked like they belonged on the field were the QB and TE.

Defense held up ok in the first half, but how long can they compete when they watch the O turtle up series after series after series. They took the run away pretty well, and they competed on short-intermediate routes...could not compete on the long stuff especially in the second half...but I'm guessing Bama knew they'd have that. Really the defense has less to be embarrassed about than that pitiful offensive line...

Bama -7 vs Clemson opening line. Discuss.

I'm going to wait and see if it moves to 7.5 and then take it. If it starts moving the other direction, I'll buy it back to 7 if necessary.

No doubt ... MSU sucked! That was the best team in the B1G?!?

MSU had 29 yards rushing? I didn't get to see most of the game, did MSU come close to scoring?

Smart man.

Side note...some UM friends of mine are mad at Sparty for not showing up. Actually think OSU would have beaten Bama...

Not really. They got in the red zone only once or twice. Threw an interception just before halftime their first time in the red zone and turned it over on downs from about the 20 or 25 in the 4th quarter. That's the closest they came to scoring all game.

Agree with the first part, but, regrettably, not the second part. We were down 28-0 at halftime and everyone knew the game was over. Heck, the game felt over after the first quarter (they scored their 21st point 4 seconds into the second quarter). MSU wore down in this one against the biggest, strongest, most athletic team in the country. We didn't look like we belonged on the same field that year.

If Cook doesn't throw that terrible pass at the end of the half, it might have been 10-7 or 10-3 at halftime though. I think that just would have made it 3 or 7 points closer and wouldn't have mattered in the outcome, but they nearly pounded it in there.

That was a complete physical manhandling of a team as I've seen in such a supposed big-time match up.
Bama is so far ahead of everyone else.

Which would you rather have: 38-0 in the CFP semis or 42-14 in the Natty?

I'll take the latter.

But I don't think the final score represents the complete feel of the game. Bama destroyed MSU in the second half. But it was a game for 2 quarters. And Henry was contained. In 2012, it was big play after big play and no one on earth thought ND could win after the first quarter and 30 seconds.

Doesn't take away from the 2012 team. It was really good. Bama was just scary good, like they are this year.

Agree, and that's my point. Bama is way above everyone else, especially with a month to prepare. Just so much more stronger, never have to blitz, and they wear you out as the game goes on.

The games really were almost polar opposites. With our game, we were obviously out-coached from the beginning (letting Nix through the line and running away from him, sending guards to the second level on Manti every play, saying "lol that's how you're going to cover Amari Cooper?" and correctly attacking our zone coverage) and then once we got into halftime the game settled down. 300 yards and 2 TDs by the end of the game.

MSU, on the other hand, benefited form really "cute" Alabama offense in the first half. And they almost scored once. And the game had the feeling of "how the hell are they still hanging around..." not "LOL turn off the TV at halftime." But in the second half, I'd argue that showing was even more embarrassing than our 1st half and the overall product was worse.

Yeah. The games were pretty much flipped. But I do think that's significant. It's hard to know how much Bama coasted. They were up 35-0 at the midway point of the third quarter. Everyone knew that our TDs were completely irrelevant.

Statistically, we also lost by more. Time of possession, first downs, yards surrendered (though we did have about 65 yards more on offense), etc.

Notre Dame vs. Alabama - Game Summary - January 7, 2013 - ESPN
Michigan State vs. Alabama - Game Summary - December 31, 2015 - ESPN

That said, we're certainly splitting hairs. The overarching point is that both games were embarrassing. That remains true.
