man go to the bathroom and come back to this...hell i haven't even heard of him...but offer list looks good...

check someone's post on 247
Tom, you hadn't even CB'ed him to ND yet

Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame High School four-star wide receiver C.J. Sanders committed to Notre Dame this afternoon.

The 5-9, 177-pound prospect chose the Irish over offers from Duke, Ohio State, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and others. Sanders is one of the faster offensive targets on Notre Dame's board. Last year — prior to moving to California — in the 100-yard dash he finished second in the Tennessee State Finals with a 10.64.

He is the son of former Ohio State and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chris Sanders, who also is well known for playing Ray Charles as a child in the movie "Ray."

Stay tuned to BlueandGold.com for quotes from Notre Dame's eighth commitment of the 2015 class.

Sanders is the No. 40 wide receiver in the country and the No. 37 prospect in the state of California by 247Sport

I THINK he is in TN this year and transferring to CA his senior year. At least that's what rivals was inferring

Kid has some great offers both at football factories as well as academic institutions. Seems like a great pickup for ND football and the university. Welcome aboard.

Now I wonder how this shakes out the rest of the WRs since this came pretty much out of left field.

Great offer list, and I love hearing he's got that speed.

The only thing I can find on this guy is from a Scout article where he says he ran a 4.3 at an OSU camp and a 4.35 at a Vandy camp. Brother of Chris Sanders from OSU.

Welcome aboard!

From looking at a Tennessee site, they had posted earlier that even though he is a pOSU legacy, the the Buckeyes weren't showing much interest right now as they have quite a few that they were pursuing in front of CJ. However, many Buckeyes believe that they could flip him whenever they want with a late offer.

Grew up in Tennessee but just moved to Cali just recently.

Nice SPARQ rating

He is diminutive in stature. Lacks ideal measurables in terms of height and weight. Is not a physically imposing prospect. Makes up for size deficiencies with speed and quickness. Is flexible, slippery and displays a second gear. Is very sudden and explosive in his overall change of direction. Time in the weight room will aid in durability.
Separation Skills
Has tremendous upside in this area. His ability to reach 0 to 60 rapidly is a strength. Plays almost exclusively out of the slot where he navigates zone coverage and locate voids, but he has the skill set to win most one-on one match-ups on quickness alone. Wastes little time getting into routes. One of the better players we have seen in this class when it comes to explosiveness into and out of breaks. Shows sudden burst off of the cut in quickly snaps as head around to locate the ball.
Quickness and speed allow him to stretch the field, size limits his viability if he doesn't run by people. Rapidly eats up cushion and gets on the toes of defenders.
Ball Skills
Quickly snatches the ball out of the air. Has soft hands, does not fight the football. Quickly talks in transitions upfield without wasting time. Maintains focus to secure the ball prior to making moves after the catch. Does not possess a wide catch radius nor does he have the height to afford the quarterback the luxury of missing, especially on the high ball. This does not mean that he won't compete for the football because he will. He is the type of player that can adjust to the ball in the open field yet still make the first defender miss in one continuous motion.
Big Play Ability
Is the ultimate space player. Wins with quickness and sudden change of direction. If he gets a crease he will consistently win footraces in the open field. Is an exciting player with the ball in his hands particularly when employed out of the slot where can avoid contact off the line and get open in soft spots.
The downside to Sanders is that he lacks size and strength which limits his ability to be a significant factor in the red zone or on the jump ball. Needs to be on the perimeter to be at his best and create big plays. Is difficult to get a clean shot at in the open field which allows for and extend plays many of which result in big chunks of yardage. Without question should have huge upside as a punt return specialist.
Bottom Line
If Sanders was bigger, he'd likely be a national recruit. He has the physical talent to be a game breaker with the ball in his hands, but does have some limitations. Possesses the skill set to receive significant interest from programs in the top five conferences, but likely will see significant attention at the mid-major level. He is productive, makes plays on a consistent basis and brings kicking game value to the table. Good player.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Shows a good initial burst, playing strength and separation speed. Flashes good change of direction and lateral quickness. Has natural hands and can adjust to throws outside of his frame. Very quick and sudden after the catch. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Overall route running abilities need polish. Very undersized for the outside. Lacks strength and bulk. ... BOTTOM LINE: Sanders is a quick and versatile athlete at the WR position. Added bulk along with improved playing strength will improve his stock as a college prospect. His skill set is ideal for the spread offense as a utility weapon. High upside in return game.

A 10.64 at a state meet is ridiculous speed.

From his highlights it looks like he's going to be an immediate factor in the punt return game.

Scott Booker was in charge of his recruitment.

Stanford was going after him hard.

Welcome aboard CJ!

His film doesn't seem 4.3 fast, but he is fast enough. I like his suddeness in his routes and with the ball in his hands in the open field. Never heard of him ... but then again, he's probably never heard of me either. Welcome aboard C.J.

“I have been in contact with Notre Dame for a while, with coach (Harry) Hiestand,” Sanders said. “(Thursday) I was informed to call coach (Scott) Booker and he informed me that they offered. I’m excited to learn more about Notre Dame. It’s a place with great tradition and I was really excited and blessed to be in this position.”

Pete over on II says he visited last weekend. "Pretty stealth for this day and age."

Ha! Love it. Welcome aboard.

ne look at Notre Dame was enough for C.J. Sanders.

The four-star wide receiver from Brentwood, Tenn., committed to the Irish on Tuesday after wrapping up a weekend visit to South Bend. Sanders, who will transfer to Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., for his senior year, becomes Notre Dame’s eighth verbal commitment and second receiver following Jalen Guyton.

“I have officially committed to the University of Notre Dame & I thank God for this opportunity,” Sanders posted on Twitter in announcing his commitment.

Notre Dame had been a contender for Sanders since offering early this spring and had carved out a niche among the programs coming after him hardest. Other offers on the table included USC, Stanford, Tennessee and Georgia.

Sanders planned to take his time with the process, but Notre Dame changed all that.

“I'm going to take it slow,” Sanders told Rivals.com last month. “I'm going to make sure once I commit I want to be a man of my word and stay where I am. So I’m going to take it slow. I'm just going to see where I really truly fit in a place. I think it's going to come down to where I feel comfortable. So those factors are going to alter my decision.”

Sanders’ father, Chris Sanders, played receiver at Ohio State before moving on to the NFL. His stepfather, Corey Harris, played running back at Vanderbilt then won a Super Bowl ring with the Baltimore Ravens.
“I’ve got an athletic family,” Sanders said. “My dad helps me a lot and my stepdad as well. Between him and my dad, they help me a lot.”
Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand led Notre Dame’s recruitment of Sanders, although tight ends coach Scott Booker also made contact. Quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur, who recruits the West Coast, is expected to play a part with Sanders once he relocates to California.

“I’m excited to learn more about Notre Dame,” Sanders said after picking up his Irish offer. “It’s a place with great tradition and I was really excited and blessed to be in this position.”

It’s a position Sanders can get used to moving forward.
