The staff really liked him, and they had saved a spot. Loy (I think?) had said we were only taking 1 of Hamlin OR Pride, not both. I'm not sure that's 100% accurate, but it does look more like the case than I thought.

I believe they told Hamlin to shit or get off the pot. They had put a full court press on him and he was still dragging his feet. I also think he was turned off by the number of DBs we are taking in this class. So I don't think it's a coincidence he said what he did immediately after learning that we're taking Pride.

Kind of makes sense, as far as ND is concerned. Also tells me they feel good about who's coming/staying, and aren't going to be held captive by wishy washy recruit.
All I want are corners who can cover one on one, and can tackle in the open field.

Could also mean the staff is confident Russell will be back for another year?

I am not sure there can be any confidence there. He has to go through an appeal process with the NCAA to be granted another year, which could take quite some time to happen.

And turn and look at the appropriate time when the ball is in the air.

There is room. I can't stand when the staff does this.

Agree. With that being said though, we have two more silents right now in addition to Pride, so depending on who you talk to we only have 1-3 spots left... and that includes some "oversigning."

Please spill the beans? I don't see us having any DB's that are silents. I could see Javon Mckinley and Jeffrey Mcculoch being silents but that is kinda far fetched.

That's pretty cool to know. Sometimes I get the feeling we aren't ever going to get another commit.

Okay, that is great to know, thanks.

If there are two more silents, it has to be players who want to announce at the big games. Does that eliminate anyone?

The thought of having to turn down Hamlin and or Long because of taking lesser prospects early in the cycle makes me queasy.

That's how it goes tho.

Pope Urban or Harbaugh-humbug would pull a scholarship to make room.

Hamlin just tweeted that he's down to 3 with Pitt, PSU, and OSU. ND out, this must be because of Pride committing.

from all paid sites he had a spot regardless...so either something changed w/ that thinking, we may have someone else they feel good about(idk) or what....interesting

I'm assuming its a mutual thing. ND would still take Hamlin, no doubt, he's a really good prospect but he's no longer a need. Also, Hamlin probably sees that ND has a bazillion DB's in this class and that keeps him closer to home. Apparently he has a GF and that is also factoring in to keeping him close to home. This was probably the little nudge he needed. Doubt he ends up at OSU.

I think it could be the staff telling him no thank you. He's not leaving home. All signs have been pointing that was for a long time.

Hate missing out on Hamlin. Kid is going to be a stud. Pride seems to be developing nicely. Would still like them to take Hamlin because of the DB's having position flexibility.
