You're also forgetting that he's yet to visit, and that's a HUGE X-factor in his recruitment.

Whatever you say Sean you know more than me. He keeps saying Academics but really doesn't seem like it, doesn't like the cold weather and it's a 5* DE from Serra. Yes, I am sure him knowing Penn State lost to a ranked team in the first week of the season was the reason he dropped PSU

I'm just saying we really don't know where we stand at this point, because the visit is the key factor in his recruitment. We've had this happen before, where ND is riding success to the bank on the recruiting trail, and an official visit makes all the difference, especially when ND keeps winning.

And losing to a ranked team in the first week of the season is one thing, losing to Temple in embarrassing fashion is a whole other thing.

It's a great story I'll root for this kid wherever he ends up. I don't know much about recruiting other than what I read on here so I'll defer to those that say he's a long shot but I'd love for him to come to ND.

If I had a dollar for every player it has been said that Notre Dame can't afford to miss over the years that went elsewhere I might be able to pay off my student loans.

I neither get my hopes too high or get too discouraged by these kinds of things.

There rarely are players that a school truly can not afford to miss on. Jaylon Smith and Gunner Kiel were examples of "can't miss" players. Betiku isn't.

From what I understand, the video is actually from a coaches convention over the winter and you could say the guy in the video is Tyrone Willingham. You can't tell it's even Sumlin.

How do academics line up for this kid? Seems like someone immigrating from Nigeria 2 years ago might not have the credits/courses lined up to pass ND admissions regardless of how bright he is. You would think the background would call for special consideration but that would be predicated on him being able to make the academic transition.

Depends on the context - are we talking about 'can't miss' because without them we have no shot at CFB Playoffs? or 'can't miss' because they are top players with connections to the program or live close in proximity. To me, Jaylon Smith was much more of a can't miss for Ohio State, given that his brother was a running back for them. Kiel was a legacy and 5 star recruit. Turns out it wasn't as big of a deal because he didn't have the chest....Can't miss for me this current recruiting cycle was Jacob Eason. Best QB in the class and a legacy. It's like we never got our foot in the door.
